As discussed previously (http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=234233) the TapaTalk application for the iphone has been under development for many months. I'm pleased to say that this application has now been released within the UK App store.

If you're interested to check this out, either search in the app store for 'Tapatalk' or head to http://itunes.com/app/tapatalk

The Tapatalk team have lots planned for this app, so be sure to see regular updates. The Saxperience server is running the latest version of the server-side software to maximise the functionality available from the app store version of this app.

Ofcourse you dont NEED to make use of this application to interact with Saxperience on your mobile device, but it is handy and certainly speeds things up when you dont have a wireless connection.

Im sure you'll make your own minds up whether its useful or not. For those who don't mind paying less than £2 to find out, why not give it a go.

You need to get used to the user interface, but once you get to grips with it, its pretty neat! :A:

would be nice if the emoticons worked

Simo

Yeah, some suggestions to get this working have been made, but TBH, I dont think it will be enabled, as there are too many customised emoticons out there to make it work with a generic app, reliably.

Most important thing is to remember to click the arrow and refresh from time to time ;)

CooperVTR

was thinking that, seems pretty impressive as it is know. Will be good to see what updates they have in mind for it

the only trouble im having on it is when you go on a thread you have to scroll through the whole lot unless you go to latest posts so its a bit annoying if you want to look at the latest bit of someones progress thread

Why isnt there a G1 version?

Fuck the iPHone.

That should have been fixed during the dev'.

Try pressing the arrow icon, then pressing show latest posts. You can set how many 'latest' posts are shown in the tapatalk settings menu.

Some additional navigation options are on the way to make page navigation better.

The niggles you have, let me know in this thread and I will pass onto the developer. Most problems/improvements listed to date have been incorporated into the next version.

£2!!!

there is a recession going on at the minute you know.

i dont suppose there are any plans for it to be free?

Rob-6
28th July 2009, 22:07
Just the ones I mentioned before. There doesn't seem to be a settings menu for me and you can't click on the arrow to go to the last posts of a thread unless your in latest post section

There is and you can. lol

Goto the iphone desktop, click the settings icon... then scroll down until you find Tapatalk.

To display the latest posts, click on any thread (one with quite a few replies is best for a demo), then click the arrow icon, then choose "show newest posts". The latest 10, 15, 20 (depends on setting above), etc posts will then be shown beneath the posts that were already displayed on the screen.

This is a little bit clunky still and needs to be developed further, but it works... look at the dates, you should be taken to the most recent posts (ie, the end of the thread)

Its worth pointing out that the more threads you choose to display in each page load, the slower the page loads :P

With the amount of development that has gone into this in the last months, I doubt it, but you never know. lol

That works the same as with any browser. Refresh = reload page. (hopefully with some new bits at the bottom)

Mike-VTR
28th July 2009, 22:27
nah what i mean is, say you refresh on the last page/post, it takes me back to the very first post and i have to scroll down and tap load more posts?

know what i mean? is that normal then

OK, yeah, I understand what you mean now. Its currently normal, but should be dev'd to refresh the last section.

I'll check thats being worked on (pretty sure it is). If not, I'll put forward as a suggestion.

Mike-VTR
28th July 2009, 22:31

It would be cool if they added a little more information onto the user profiles e.g location,
Apart from that though its pretty cool I haven't used the regular website on my iPhone since downloading it worth the £1.79

Can't see why you just don't run the iPhone script on the forum so people can browse the site EASILY and without SPENDING MONEY like most people do on other forums.

I still feel robbed from premium (hahahaha)

Simo
19th August 2009, 15:42
"run the iphone script"... I guess you mean use a lite skin/theme for mobile devices... Yes, Ive looked into this, and whilst its not rocket science, its not something I wish to do right now.

Whilst its easy to incorporate for the FORUM, the older parts of the site would crap out without a fair amount of re-working. Or be forced to use old and lite versions... A lite theme will come when the time's right... unfortunately, now is not THE time ;)

The server side application has been updated to work best with v1.3 TapaTalk, now available on the app store.

Updates include: -

- Full Pagination support! Finally we made forum-specific pagination with iPhone style! No more "showing only last few posts"
- See who is currently online - a dedicated tab to list online user and ability to send instant private message to them
- Forum statistic - you can now easily see how many total members, topics and posts in your forum as live data.
- More languages are supported - Italian, Swedish and Czech are added in addition to previous available languages such as Spanish and German.
- More bug fixes

I've just updated the server side software - hopefully this will improve the crashing issues.

An updated app will be available in the app store soon, with a bunch more features.

We have added few
important features and bug fixes that we thought you are interested to
know.

We are about to release a newer version of Tapatalk iPhone app that
will requires an updated plugin in your server to works flawlessly.
Most noticably we have added a "Edit Post" feature where your members
can edit their submitted post right inside Tapatalk with just a simple
finger tap.

On separate note we have fixed numerous crashes and bugs in the new
iPhone app. I'm sure the user experience with the new version is much
better with this upcoming version.
