i changed my near side drive shaft today, cos id been getting all sorts of knocking noises from the front left, im going to change the off side this weekend now im an expert lol.
after changing the drive shaft i took the gaters of the old one and it was like oil pissing out, i was expecting grease to be in there, think this mite of been the problem to start with.
now for my question, like i said im doing the other shaft this week end, should i just get one of those kits where u get a new gater and grease to pack in there, or as ive got the drive shaft off should i just change the whole thing like the other side.

cheers

if your on about the gaitor kits that glue up without taking the hub off etc then no, just buy a new driveshaft mate

as for the grease, about a golf ball size is what you should use rub it around the joints, the grease will turn to a kind of liquid as the join will be heated up and melts the grease

o/s driveshafts a bit different also.. what with the bolts halfway along the shaft, it was a ballache doing it under a jacked up car.. but it was defo worth replacing the whole thing and not just the boot :)

Yes they are on the intermidate bearing.
Not that much harder to do.
