Ok, so when i first bought my car, steering wheel was slightly turned left when i was going straight, so i thought ok i'll get the tracking done. Went to the local garage to get it done and they said the tracking rods are well within tollerance and they said they think the steering wheel had been taken off and put on slightly off before.

My car has been in a CAT C so i take it the previous owners in the process of them fixing it put a new steering wheel on but its on the piss.

So what are my options? Take the steering wheel off and put it back on so its straight? Is that a hard job to do? Because i dont want to fuck it up!

Very easy to do, it put mine on wonky after changing my clock spring. Make sure u leave ur battery disconnected for 30 mins before u start, and be very carefull when handleing the airbag unit

yea put mine on wonkey too, take the airbag off and its a t50 bolt, put steering lock on mark a note of where the steering wheel is now, dont undo the bolt all the way so you can pull it off without smashing your face in lol once loose move one or two noches to the left or right and tighten back on, dont put the airbag back on yet take it for a test drive first to see its straight if so airbag back on!

Hi

I don't think you are quite grasping "Tracking" mate. Tracking is the direction of 1 wheel against the other against the chassis basically. I doubt your wheel has been off so leave that alone for now.
If I understand it correctly your wheel sits slightly to the left when your driving and you therefor if you straighten the wheel you will be veering to the right, yeah? In this case you will need to lenghen drivers track rod and shorten passenger side trackrod to correct it. As long as you adjust them equally then your tracking will remain correct.
As you say the garage told you the tracking is correct, it probably is - ie both wheels aligned to the chassis (pointing straight ahead in laymans terms) - they won't care if your steering wheels on the piss.

PS check tyre pressures as well, has a big effect on steering.

I hope I have made some sense here, it's quite hard to explain, sorry

Unlikely to be your wheel on a wonk to be honest.

As stated above, get a garage to do your tracking, but make sure they put your steering wheel straight ahead before they start.
