Hi everyone or is that howdy as the administrator says,he sure looks like a cowboy well his avvy does..I'm really not sure what has or hasn't been posted about servicing a Saxo Vtr. I really just need some basic information as I have eyed a Vtr I like..Considering a basic service oil, plugs, air filter, oil filter, and oil how easy is this to carry out.. note I am no mechanic albeit I have been around cars a long time..Also if someone could point out what these cars are likely to fail on when undergoing an Mot, any causes that are well known amongst these cars, and tell me please where is the oil filter placed on this engine, is it easy to get at? Wishing you all well..

Basic service is very easy to carry out. Spark plugs can sometimes be a pain, but I find using a universal joint attached to the plug spanner with an extension and ratchet easier than just an extension as the fuel rail can be a hinderance. PM if you come across any probs.

Thanks mate any more info on the other questions I asked.The 'how to' section on this site anyone got a link please .anyone point the way for me to see how these Saxo's are lowered, what is involved, the likely pitfalls etc.. how about someone informing me of how to turbo this vtr. I will show you this motor after I buy it.

That covers the general shit. I will add to it when I get a chance. I will probably start a whole new one so I can keep all the pics together.
The only pics I have at the mo are of a 16v engine but the only real difference is the shape of the air box/filter and the location of the coilpack.

There are two types of oil filter, they are both easily accesible. The newer ones can be accessed without getting under the car.
Common failures range quite significantly and if you look in the sticky section there is a brilliant guide on what to check before you go for an MOT.
If I had to say what the most common failure was I'd say droplinks.
