As title says, I had a mate with a Beauty of a STI-8 400bhp subaru (youtube search - subaru classic) if u wana see him blitz it at me old factory lol !

Anyway he had this key fob where he could press a button and start his engine from like 50 yards n let it warm up for him in the winter. Thought it was cool and wondered is it possible on a saxo...and how much you reckon it would cost ?
Cheers

well what can i say buddy!
but seriosly why would you want remote start on a saxo lol?

Its not a car with a turbo/super charger or VTEC so you dont need to let it warm up for 10-15 mins.

i know you want to let it run for 2-3 mins so you dont run from cold but remote start you wont need, just sit in the car

also do you have an alarm at the moment, or are you wanting an alarm?

oh and i didnt mean the engine warm up, haha, i actually meant the inside of the car itself in the winter when its chilly lol.
Never mind aye !

your looking about 13 quid for the remote, reciever and then just fit it yourself

my mate has a 122dB truck horn in his car, its the same princaple... all you need is a remote to activate the switch to set the horn off, or in this case to start the ignition.
i was thinking about hooking one up to my push button start.

only thing is mate, if you have an amobilser, you need to by pass that or have it removed.

oh yeah true ... thanks for the positive reply mate.... that seems a little cheaper than what someone else said.... lots of money ! lol
Elliot likes puttin out my flames lol only jokin mate haha ..
I can see what he was sayin but as i said before, the idea came as a novelty thing that i just thought would be a cool little touch.

its a good idea, my mate has it on his BMW . . . when i asked why, he said to awrm my car up in the morning...it sucks being cold, but made the mistake of leaving it in reversve and a car parked too close behind him...

LOL yeah thats what i meant,,, i think elliot thought i meant warm the engine up... lol i was purely thinking of inside temperatures as no one likes getting into a cold car lol... inspiration was from me mates subz he used to come out of work have a chat with me for 5 his car was warming up as we spoke lol.... i thought it was clever..

yeah some mornings i will turn my engine on, and let it tick over for 5-10 mins to warm it up.
makes sense.

i'm pretty sure there were kits for it on ebay, with universal flip keys and car finder things on it, think was 40 quid, but like most things could just be a cheap tat thats gonna break

yeah if i did it i would want it properly done, but Tonto_VTR hasa point about the immobiliser.
I think it would be cool tho.

If only it was that simple mate. You need a dedicated alarm with a remote start module as you dont want to start the car if it in gear, you need it to monitor the car and come off the starter when started.
You would be looking at around £400 for a clifford arrow 5 with remote start fitted. I would only go with a clifford as i used to have one on my vtr and they are the only remote start that i will fit.

i have it on my saxo. its a fair bit of work.
i added it when i got my clifford alarm fitted, all together about 650-750.

it also takes alot of tweeking till it is perfect.
the remote start shouldnt work if it is in gear, there is a routine you have to do to set it up while sat in the car, it cant be in gear and you cant touch any pedals.
then you type in the code on your fob, and get out and lock it.

it is alot of money, but it was worth it when you have people looking around your car, and you secretly turn it on!
