vts i'd imagine. 16v rallye would beat both though ;)

5th August 2009, 18:17
vts but rallye is a better all rounder i would own a s1 rallye over a vts :)

The rallye has better power to wait ratio but the VTS has slightly more horse's but id say the VTS due to it's 16v's.

Vts easily
a 1.3 Rallye is about the same speed as a vtr! Maybe a little quicker

Sophia_Bush
5th August 2009, 19:09
VTS 100% is faster no question about it.

1.3 rallye is faster than a vtr mind you, if an ax gt is faster than a vtr a rallye defo is

Mochachino
5th August 2009, 19:16
a 1.3 rallye is definatly quicker than a VTR.

Whirly
5th August 2009, 19:16
so a 16 valve rallye would do a vts then

Mochachino
5th August 2009, 19:18
Rallyes are 8valve.

Neilcabrio

vts are quicker but rallys are quicker than a vtr.

In europe S2s there were also 16v'ers I believe.

VTS are quicker than s1 rallyes, but the rallye is a very fun drive and the power delivery is a bit more interesting. the weight is what gives the rallye its edge, whos to say round a track which would be fastest?

good answer but not always true, theres no replacement for displacement.

Ryan

There is if you cant drive for shit. + depending on the track a well set up suspension and brake set up car will hammer a big power one if it cant slow down or turn..

The american 500bhp v8 muscle cars are really well known for being awsomely fast in anything but a corner ;)

no replacement for displacement?

tell that to the drivers of;

tvr's
renault sports
civic
bmw's
and the odd porsche

whose drivers cant drive and a 100bhp saxo pissed them

Vts all day long.......................16v power:p:p

vts easily and if you rip the back seats out of the vts then that also screws up the 106s power to weight ratio being better. the 0-60 on the rallye comes nowhere near a vts what is it like 9 seconds its stupid to compare the 2 on track unless theres a tool in the vts. and power to weight argument id just strip the vts out then see how good the power to weight is on the little 1.3. also an unfair advantage over a vts is if you weigh 2 normal men and your driving the vts and youve got a normal sized man that weights fuckall driving the rallye.but both with both the same things done you might aswell ask who would win in a race with a standard clio rsi and a standard 182.

KamRacing
6th August 2009, 07:18
on paper the VTS wins.

on the road the difference is minimal really and on the track its down to the best driver / best tyres / best brakes / best suspension setup rather than outright power. Too many variables.

Worth just playing this like top trumps..

VTS has more power
higher top speed
faster 0-60
WIN :y:

just hope the rallye driver doesn't pick weight or your loose the card lol

i think he's refering to the rallye

AlexR
6th August 2009, 09:59
The S1 comes with 175 width agricultural tyres. It has good handling but it's lacking in grip.

Standard for standard the vts is a much quicker car. The 106 has more potential though and even minor mods can make it as quick

b0t13
6th August 2009, 15:37
std to std the vts is better in every way, when u mods things then it doesnt count to the question,

heres a more interesting question

which is better 1.3 rallye or 1.6?

Mieran
6th August 2009, 15:46
Would a VTR be faster than a S1 if it had a shorter gearbox?

Japman
6th August 2009, 17:58
good question

i think the vtr would be quicker if it had rallye box

VTSTomE
6th August 2009, 18:05
Rallyes have slightly more power and less weight so id say the rallye is quicker than a vtr no matter what box.

LOLZER!!!

i'll have a gram of what ur on sir!:clapping:

On paper at least, the VTS takes it...in the real world tho there would be fuck all in it, would all come down to the driver imo...

Rallyes are made of win tho = epic wee cars:y:

Id agree.

When we went to Croft me and Dondan watched a S1 Rallye driver spanking Impreza's etc.

Heliosphan

I thought the Rallye would be a tad quicker to 60mph - 9 seconds seems a bit slow although it isn't all about 0-60. 100bhp and 825kg seems a receipe for fun!

Certainly a Vts is quicker but maybe not as much as people seem to think.

Also, I'm not sure the 1.6 Rallye was much quicker than the 1.3 due to being slightly bigger and heavier but I could be talking bollox there!

dj_russell
6th August 2009, 18:54
still cant see how a rallye could be anywhere near a vts, itd have to have alot of bends with little or no straights for the saxo to put down its extra power and so it makes it unfair anyway as the rallyes stripped out.

saxo stripped out i couldnt see a rallye anywhere near on any track with any tight bends unless the vts driver was shit.

that was a guestimate 0-60 aswell i know its somewhere around that figure.

dj_russell
6th August 2009, 19:01
1.3i Rallye 3d 9.7 s 0-60 119 mph 100 bhp
1.6i 16V VTS 3d (97) 7.5 s 0-60 127 mph 120 bhp

youd be a pretty shit driver if on a normal road you cant see 1.3 rallyes off. its also worth noting that most of those 1.3 rallyes going round that bully the big boys are no longer 1.3s and possibly under that bonnet its got a vts or gti lump in it anyway making it straight away totally unfair if your fighting a rallye with 16v lump in it against your vts which has a full interior.

Sophia_Bush

S1 0-60 is crap because the box is so short you cant hit 60 in 2nd gear like you can with a VTR/S something daft like 56mph so needs another shift.

So 0-50mph would be interesting......

I owned a S1 rallye at the same time as my brother had a vts, and I own a vts now. Trust me the difference in a straight line was considerable.
Plus I had to really give the rally some stick to keep up when everyone else was cruising on their torque, cos it was so cammy.
Just to add, my mate in his bog standard 205gti 1.6 would pull 2 car lengths on me by 60.

I had a 205 rallye with similar power to the 106 one and I could keep up easily with 205 1.9 Gti's on the road. I'd expect similar for the 106 rallye. Never cruised on the torque.. kept it neatly in the power band at all times.

On the road you can't easily compare and the rallye wasn't really a straight line drag racer. In that sort of 'race' it plays to the advantages of the 1.6 engine.

Add bends and the light front and sharper steering of the 1.3 rallye really comes into its own.

Yeah I'm just talking about straight line speed really, my brothers vts would fly away especially after 50.

On a track or down the bends things will defo be different, but tyres and other things make a bigger difference then too. I couldn't stay with my bros vts on the bends either cos he had 15s with nice sticky yokos and I had crap avon tyres.

I much prefer the vts tbh, the only thing that doesn't compare is the noise. There's not many 4 cyl engines that sound as good as my old rallye. Until the bottom end started knocking that is!

Haha, you do realise you spelt 'stupid' wrong?

Anyway, standard for standard, VTS is quicker, but not by a huge amount. Fettle with the Rallye and it'll give a VTS a run for its money.

Forget displacement, forget all out power; It's all about the power/weight.

Parkers says that the VTR is faster 0-60 than the Rallye.
i imagine a 1.3 rallye to be in worse condition (ages and miles) by now too.

So i'd say a VTR and a VTS would beat a Rallye 1.3

Sophia_Bush
11th August 2009, 22:40
i can safely say the rallye gets the vtr in a dash provided the 90bhp one

but by god you have to rape it to get going

titchster
12th August 2009, 22:59
VTS > Rallye > VTR

Speedwise. And like Gav said, 0-60 on the Rallye is shit. But that's all down to how short the box is.
