bit of a rant really as im absolutely gutted to the bad workmanship ive received through the post the other day, i ordered an early mk1 grill to be debadged and smoothed (which is a service he offers hear on he club) i paid 45 quid for him for this service and this is what i recieved
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/v6cally/grill.jpg
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/v6cally/grill2.jpg
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/v6cally/grill3.jpg
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/v6cally/grill5.jpg
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/v6cally/grill4.jpg
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/v6cally/grill6.jpg
1, it was sent in a bin bag and a bit of bubble wrap
2 the grill was sprayed and then wrapped in bubble wrap while the paint was wet, i had to peel the bubble wrap off
3 and because off crappy parcelling all the FILLER had cracked
ive emailed him to try and resolve it by two options 1st was i'll send it back for him to redo this satisfactoraly or give me 30 quid back of my 45 (as a grill probably cost him 15) so i can have ago my self (cant do any worse) or i'll report him to the club
and his grown up reply was
ha do what you like bud, i dont do the grills anymore, im hardley ever on saxp anymore so it realy doesnt bother me, be a spoiled child about it and have your paddy. i see your frustrations but your terms were not reasonalble.
so if any one was considering this service do ya self a favour and dont because it'll be crap and a waste of money

mine came the exact same from j-reid, but i just got on with it.....
EDIT this was my pm to him.
cheers mate recieved the grill today.
looks sweet, but i dont think you let it dry enough before sending as the top half and chevs have loads of creases in the paint from the plastic wrapping.
still ok though
cheers

My mk2 grill popped out when closing the bonet due to crappy glue...also from J-reid if you didn't guess and does need another spray to get 100% percent..

9th August 2009, 20:00
i also have had a grille of j-reid and it had bubble wrap marks all over it and a few other problems. so i messaged him and he paid the postage for me to send it back for him to sort which he did but it still had glue splattered on the mesh and the mesh was coming off! so in the end i pulled the mesh off and im now going to sort it myself after paying £45.

imo, its a bit bad, loads of people have had problems, yet nobody has bought this thread up sooner
resulting in several members losing cash
small claims court can work if everyone clubs together, item sold not as described and all that
or by paypal if thats how you paid

with regards to that picture, he made me a debadged mk2 grill, which when i recieved was exactly the same, there was over ten layers of paint over the slats that had been added to try and hide what a crap job he had done, both pieces were broke, not in line or level! Literally a ten yr old could have done better, but he did refund me the money! Im making my own now!
If someone is going to offer a service like this, they should be compatant enough to actually be able to carry the job out to a good finish!

Only after they have mugged 1 or more people off though, its fair enough naming and shaming them but by that time they've already made there money and fucked off to another forum.

This is why I would never buy something off the internet from a person. Only buy from trusted companies.
But why would you pay £45 for something that you can get off ebay for £30 from an actual company ?

What a cock mate. I was gonna buy a backbox of him but dont think i wanna trade with him tbh.
Too much of this kinda stuff goes on on here, ive had to deal with a couple ass hole sellers on here but saying that theres also decent people on here.
All you can do is just keep naming and shaming.

Took the words right out my mouth. Well there seem to be alot of good people on here and as long as you ask them sensible questions about the item, their workmanship you should be fine. Although i did ask a very establisbished memeber (who i wont name as i believe it wasa one off) some direct questions on the condition of an item and it wasn't as described. The only advice for this is to ask for plenty of pics that you are happy with and then buy. I only got one pic and was told the other (mirror) was in the same condition (lol) so in a way i should of just not brought them. There is a lesson there.

J-Reid is a top lad.
Done quite a few deals with him recently, like he said - made a few mistakes. I bet that grill was spot on before it went in the packaging, but sometimes you can think it's fully dry when it's not.

when i first had the problems with my grill i messaged you and you were really helpful and paid the postage to send back, but it still came back shit after i told you in detail what was wrong with it. just annoying because i paid nearly £50 for it.

your talking shit as it was a standerd grill front and chevs. no paint needed. and it slotted onto the back plate as it still had the male an female clips so there would be no problem with it miss fitting. so your obv. just jumping on the band waggon

your right the second one i got wasnt painted but there was glue on the mesh that had been painted over and when you pick it off it takes the paint with it and the mesh wasnt on very well

imo the for sale section should be closed down as this is getting more common on this site now

your making out i drowned the mesh with glue, if your honest youd say they may be the slightest bit on the edge, if that, which is to be expected seen as once you cut the slats out you have less than 1cm to apply the sealent to stick the mesh to the back plate. so it wasnt shit. your just been nit picky because someones made a thread about it

honestly if it was ok i would of said in this thread that i received one from you and it was good im not doing it to join in with everyone else, but the glue on the mesh was well noticeable and i never said it was drowned in it

Explain it to them? I doubt they are kicking off if you said you just need to wait for the paint to harden.
And just a notice, I've done probably what, 15 trades on here which all went smoothly I might add, but not everyone leaves feedback hence my low score. Remember that iTrader isn't always fully true to the seller.

no as some people send there own grills so go without thers for a short space of time. and there constantly nagging for their grills. its not an excuse, im just trying to show everyone it from my side
but to be fair, dorsetsaxo diddnt nag he was pacient. but it was just that i wrapped it too tight that caused the marks.

a little point id like to raise...
J-reids iTrader score is very high and 100%
if everyone has such a big problem, then why not leave neg feedback? isnt that what the systems for...
like i said earlier, a few people have made complaints now, but they could have done so before..
fair play to the guy for defending himself, i as with most people cant comment on this as its not our place and have had no dealings with it
imo, its best to only comment in the thread if you are actually involved...

yeah, when i sprayed mine i drove round without a grille for a week or so, its the price you have to pay for a good quality finish.

so its my fault you wrapped it a bin bag and a small bit of bubble wrap!!! That what i quoted was EXACTLY what you sent me the modderators can check it if they wanted! i didnt hassel you about getting it i was just saying really looking forward to receiving it! and when you sent me that pic you said it was getting another coat of paint before sending it!!! so it wasnt the final product!!!! if even my grill!!
also youve not made any attempt to rectify it in any way, they were just my suggestions and you basically said no way i aint doing them any more and i aint on club any more so go have a paddy i dont care!!! and funnily enough still no compramise, so sod ya and i aint the only one whoes been done by ya!!!!!!!!
