what do people think of civic's?
ive been thinking about buying a v-tec eg 158bhp standard.
theres soo many engine and styling products on the market nowdays im sure it wouldnt take to turn it in to a f**ink rocket!!
does anyone know of any good/bad points?? smileys/smiley2.gif

They are very nice cars, but they do feel quite big inside, a bit like a van! smileys/smiley4.gif Also I personally don't like where the gearstick is.
There are loads of parts for them as you said... it was one of the options we was looking at when me and gf sell both our cars to get 1 car between us!

*COUGH* let me take over.... if any1 has been following any of my posts, you would have known i'v had a few civics, *cough*....... IT IS AN AWESOME HATCH ! EG or EK !, near enough 160 BHP as standard !? how many car in its class / price range have that ? the is already a pocket rocket mate, i HIGHLY recomend it to any1, it is A REAL reliable car too....made to take a thrashing ! you put your foot down on a VTI (1.6 Vti not VTEC alone) it asks for more! and more! u think to urself.... huh ? and then more ! the B16A-2 engine is outstanding peice of machinary, only downside for civics for me was INSUARANCE ! i coudlt afford it after a while... far too much in my area especiallay with performance mods. Thats why i'v settled for a humble 8v VTR (plus the looks hehe smileys/smiley9.gif )

Unfortunate to say.... i'v only driven my VTR twice since i'v bought it, some F*CK key'd it all round, its in the garage now for a full respray... (same color, black)... but i must admit its very HUMBLE compared to my civic(s) (yes i'v had a few) but its cheap and cheerful on insuarance side. I P/X that particular civic for my older brother who wanted a Volvo Estate T5! (nice...) he paid me off slowly, but part ex value was £4800 at that time (car is still wort something like that till now as EK VTI's are rare, good examples that is), car was mint, no stupid JAP bodykits, standard, just dropped and smoke tinted. The 17" Evo-R Allows I took off, ones damaged but easily repaired i know someone who'd do it locally, they look gorgeous in gunmetal, to my suprise since iv paid intrest on the saxo scene, iv seen loads of mk1 and som mk2 saxo's with these alloys, they are rapped in 2 are rapped in falken tyres (low pro) and 2 in same spec tyres but none branded (1 spare falken tyre, they been in my shead for some time, all round good condition, iv been meaning to get them sorted and sell them for £300+ as look wonders, anyone who knows about the evo-r's will tell ya, they look smart.

very very nice cars go for the prelude vti or the ek9 which are very hard to get hold of. when u here that vtec roar mmmmmmmm makes me jism also the engine starts breakin in at 100,000 so the engines are solid. a mate of a mate turboed his crx vti with a t4 turbo it touching 350 bhp on the dyno

first of all... did you know the the prelude v-tec/vti is as quick as the NEW NEW civic typr r ? .... secondly... the honda civic type r in EK model is VERY VERY VERY VERY RARE, i.e. only JAP IMPORTS EXIST (that i know of) and still cost around £4-5k+... but... look awesome standard them do... also another rare civic EK is the 'SPOON' version and the 'JORDAN' version. Here are some examples of standard HONDA/CIVIC Specs:-
CRX 1.6i VT - 150bhp - 0-60 in 8.1
CRX Del Sol VTi - 158bhp - 0-60 in 7.7
EG Civic 1.5Lsi (Vtec really) - 102 bhp = 0-60 in 9.8
EG Civic 1.6Vti - 158bhp - 0-60 in 7.3
EK Civic 1.6Vti - 158bhp - 0-60 in 7.7
EP Civic Type R - 197bhp - 0-60 in 6.8
Prelude 2.2Vtec - 186bhp - 0-69 in 6.6 !!!!!! *****
S2000 - 237bhp - 0-60 in 5.5 (some water from mouth)
Integra Typr R - 187bhp - 0-60 in 6.2 (more water)
NSX - 276bhp - 0-60 in 5.5 (DROOOOLS !!!!!!)

that gold one is insane, but wtf is 480whp??? do they mean 480bhp!?
anyway, i do like the civics, a mate of mine has got a 1.4 EJ (i think), slammed on coilovers, 17" wheels, and lambo doors. looks really nice. agree with what chris(saxouk) says about the insides though, are rather spacious! heres some pics:-

16th January 2006, 03:56
totally agree, civic/honda vti's are the 'real' pocket rockets, the engine keeps asking for more ! oh gosh, you can redline the rev meter without creating an explosion, im scared of doing that to my 8v saxo ! lol, only reason i stepped down (performance wise) to a saxo vtr was it looks smart and ALOT cheaper insuarance.

thats wot iv got now a vtr coz of insurance other wise id get me a prelude vti strait away.the funny thing is that u can pick a good 1 for around 4 grand mk2 . i had on mine 1 of them apexi v tec controllers and you could time the kick point two what eva u wanted. even air flow and g force metal tuning at ur finger tips
