got pulled by traffic cops today at 11am he said car pinged me as having no licence, handed over plastic card licence, copper looked at it and said thats a good counterfit!!!!!! 45 mins later he comes back and says bad news they are taking my car and will be fined too, and also tow truck fees and impound fees to. then gets a call that agrees i poss have a full licence. i offered to take him to my place to show him every document i have to prove i have passed. wasn;t having it. anyway 1 hour and he let me go on my way after saying it was dvla not updating computers. i drove off and he continued to follow me even into a office carpark!!!! called dvla they said within 2 seconds i have full licence.

heres best part half hour ago dropped me lil sis at work way home see cop car behind so i cut thro side road he follows. 10 mins of following blue lights and get told to pull over. WTF is going on.
altho second copper wasn;t as smug as the first he did say it was unusual for a vtr to actually be insured to the person driving not a parent.
anyone else had similar

Not up to the police to generalise on who's insured or anything. And I would make a complaint about the first officer about wasting time, and threatening you with loads of fee's for no reason.

Let's wait for the "I hate the fucking pigs" brigade to come along though and tell you that you should have beaten him up and stomped on his face cos he's a 'fucking pig'.

he was ready to take car as no computer was able to prove my full licence. second cop was ok he was having a laugh about insurance and stuff. but first was just a smug basturd who seemed to just want a reason

11th August 2009, 21:21
Not gonna say anything as crude as you should have filled him in cause lets face it, thats a bad idea. however, agreed you still should complain cause like pieface said, who are they to generalise and im sorry but alot of time saxo drivers are followed just for a few yuks at our expense looking for the easy pull

marcusd
11th August 2009, 22:07
i told the first cop i had been pulled before and my licence wasn;t in question. first pull was cos a rear buld had gone. the cop replied with well it wasn;t traffic cops who pulled u then as they didn;t check licence.

oh look health and safetys arrived, police made a mistake its not their fault they only nearly impounded a car etc for no reason then your expected to not have something to say when you know your all legal, and its not the 1st time i know somone was arrested for going mad after the police said the car wasnt insured when it was and they got put in a cell. yea thats fine perfectly acceptable behaviour cause i know if my car was getting impounded for fuckall on my way home from work id be very eager to hand the keys over because the police are the law and what they say gos because even though im fully legal i shouldnt play my face up as its not the polices fault, even though during all this the police will be complete bastards and treat you like a criminal.

ye fuk de police fuk de polize people who dont like the police are all chavs that go out to cause trouble, no get real the people who dont like the police include the elderly and middle aged people and anyone whos into their cars that gos to meets and does nothing wrong but gets penalised, because were not in a free country are we i shouldnt be aloud out after 9pm theres a curfew, if i didnt go to these places i wouldnt get pulled. im not aloud to enjoy my hobby i should have to stay inside like a 5 yearold. both sets of my grandparents dont like the police and the one side she is a catholic that gos to church that has 9 points on her licence the other side my nan and grandad who both dont agree with what i do or paticularly like my hobbies, they dont like my language and dont agree with most things i say and they are loverly people that you cant have a bad word to say, but they still dont like the police because they are crooked and they know it you cant argue with your elders theyve been here longer than us.

and also only reason car wasn;t immediaty taken off me was because i produced the plastic licence(also cop said it was fake) if i didn;t produce it car would have been taken stright away no arguing. and left to me to pay all fee's cos of a mistake

so note to future pull overs make sure u got a licence on u for such cases might give u a lil leverage

i tell you pal the day there is a curfew put on everyone and it will come at some point, that is the day i will become a criminal. the day high performance cars and anything to do with glorifieing speed is banned and top gears been took off. i think im going to become a terrorist. lmfao only joking about the last one but i will rack up a shit storm as there will be loads of car enthusiasts with nothing to do.

exactly youd of been left with paying the bill, but your not aloud to hate the police. tell you what id hate them then id slash a few police car tyres(that comes out of gordon browns pocket, or if you want our money, but at least he wont be buying himself a spannish dancer toilet roll holder with it that week hell be buying a few tyres) and im a loverly person i build up a bad picture im completely the opposite but when provoked by anyone against the word "fun" i see red and if they fuck my fun up when im not doing anyone harm ill do harm and give them something to call me a criminal for. and stomping on a police officers face is not right nomatter how they mouth of at you i dont condone that, but if they hit you 1st when theyve given you abuse or pinned you up your car and said stuff like i can do what i want i am the law, i think your entitled to wallop them back at least they wont go down for it if you hit them back you would do time yet they assault people who arnt even violent towards them and get away with it. if youve been caught racing or wheelspinning youve been had fair and square and theres no disputing but when they hand a sec 59 to you for nothing or swear at you and make threats thats what i dont like and thats what gos on.

im hoping to get a saxo vtr as my second car and ill only be 18 when i get it so i am expecting to be pulled a lot! in the town where i live its real small but there will always be cop cars driving about on a friday and saturday night normally where i would either be out driving with my friends or picking them up from the pub or something, so we shall see how often i get pulled.

again if your pulled over because youve been seen leaving a pub and they just want to make sure your not over the limit im for that if they are nice about it, not a problem im happy to help. its an inconvienience but its one you dont mind, unless they use it to check the car over even if it looks a respectable road legal car but has mods after theyve just suspected you of drinking.

i was like wtf!

apparently lots of saxo and similar cars bein stolen in area and the way i had responded didn't alert the copper, don't know about you but if my car had been stolen i'd want the copper to dig a little deeper than that!!

There was a report in one of the newspapers recently about the DVLA computer having problems. As well as showing cars having no insurance, it was showing drivers has having no entitlement. Just do a Google searcg for DVLA computer problems

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2009/05/dvla_update.html

The police use the ANPR system linked to the DVLA. If the DVLA have made a mistake (which could have been rectified within the time you by the road with the police, hence it only took you two minutes to check), then the police will have that incorrect information to go on.

Had you paid any fees, these would have been refunded once the error had been spotted, so you would have been out of pocket temporarily. Not a nice situation I understand that, but you would have had your money back.

It winds me up to hear of police being unnecessarily tossers when pulling people over, but I don't buy this whole generalization is bad BS either. If a high % of saxos have no insurance then pulling over saxo's is just common sense.

What sane person is going to go....

Ohh Look a saxo, lot of those have no insurance. Young lad behind the wheel to, highest % of uninsured drivers is young lads. Still don't want to generalize, better pull that Mom+kid in the fiesta over.

Not up to the police to generalise on who's insured or anything. And I would make a complaint about the first officer about wasting time, and threatening you with loads of fee's for no reason.

Yeah. or not...

Hes hardly generalising, might be speaking from experience.

And also, if he has reason to believe (i.e his data has told him) that someone is driving illegally, then he will continue to follow the procedures. cant really make a complaint because hes doing his job?

No, if a suspect has offered to show him all the documentation to prove he is innocent, and the copper dismisses a normal driving license as a "good fake" then there is obviously a reason where a normal fair stop, turns to a copper just trying to pull someone over. Especially if he starts threatening him with fines, impounding and the lot even though he has all the correct paperwork available to get. If the driver is adamant he's got the paperwork then the copper should have given him a producer to come to the police station within the next week with all the relevant paperwork, rather than dismissing his card license as a fake.

Also if there was a well known problem with the DVLA website not updating then he should take that into consideration, not make the driver in trouble for no fault of his own, even though he found out straight away from DVLA he had a full license. The copper really should have rang the OPs insurance company, and if that shows that he is insured on a full license, and yet he isn't 100% then make him show a producer. But a card license, and insurance should give the police officer at least some reason to give him a producer rather than threatening with all the fines due to a known DVLA database problem.

and just to also add, i;m 25 and def don;t look like a young driver. and have been pulled over a couple of time before hand for having a rear bulb out, and they didn;t seem to say i didn;t have a full licience and surely they;d check.
also held licience for a year and he seems to be the only one telling me that it was a problem. then 2 weeks later and def my fault i did blip it past a parked copper and got pulled she had a chat and started checks so told her about the last pull and she confirmed i had full licience and everything else and couldn;t see why he had problem sorting this as it involves another call to another computer or something.
i have no problem with gettign pulled for a reason or even for no reason but what i was pissed off with was the pure attitude of the copper had he not been such a tosser prob wouldn;t of started the rant.

i got pulled by the fuzz once (very painfull) when i was in my 1.0l and when i asked why he had pulled me, he said ''coz your driving a saxo''. i laughed, thinking he was joking. He then pulled out a little black notepad with about 8 cars written down that he had pulled earlier in the day, about 6 of them were saxos, mostly for seatbelt offences.
True story.

btw i got pulled for having a drink. He gave me a warning. WTF are cup holders for!?

lol so its their fault you were doing more than twice the legal limit?

generally if there are no signs stating the speed limit you should take it as a 30.

Luckily for me it has been a long time since the police took an interest in me or my cars.
BUT when I was 18/19 I could almost guarantee to get pulled once a month for a producer, only once was I stopped for 'driving too fast for the conditions' as they said. I guess 18/19 year olds were not meant to drive Audi 80's?

70 in a 30 - what makes me scared is a 30 is generally a built up area where kids and familys are! 6 points isnt enough!

Actually IIRC anything over double the speed limit is an instant ban?!?
Can anyone clarify this for me please?
