Hi guys
my mate has a field with stables and sheds
I am looking into getting a horse
I am just under 6ft and weigh 13st
what size horse should i be looking to get 15-17hands high?
and what type?
I have ridden on a horse for approx 3 hours in the past
about an hour when i was 10 and about 2 hours when I was 16
I am now 20, and although I have very little fear in everything except fishing hooks and have good self confidence any reccomendations and advice greatly appreciated.
also as a starter what would i need for me and a horse
thanks

The only horse you won't look queer on.
And women still ride this type.

Lol at above.
That would still look queer. The only people that look kind of cool on horses are cowboys. And even they look queer, especially after Brokeback Mountain!

id recommend a 15-16hand cob plodder, although id also advise that you have someone who is constantly going to be around you to help you out, because they are fairly complicated creatures and there is alot of learning to be done (not just on the riding side) you may want to consider a sharer so you have some help with the upkeep.
depending on where you got the horse from, you would need tack, rugs (both for winter and summer) depending on whether the horse is being stabled or not you would need to consider the type of rugs.
you would also need riding equipment for yourself, i.e jodphers, a hat, boots, etc
you'd also need grooming equipment, vetinary stuff, wheel barrows, bedding, feed, buckets, insurance (trust me its useful) etc
hope you got a good wage mate, they arnt cheap and you need to consider alot of things before you go for it, any questions let me know, used to have one myself!

haha you dont go by miles lol, theres so many different kinds of riding you can do, and totally depends on the horse as to how long they need to be ridden for each day!!
