Just got back from work on a massive downer, one of the tables in my section has been found unpaid...I am 100% positive I have not served them I did not serve any peroni gran reservas or lemonade and limes or sharing platters today so I know that I am not in the wrong...however due to it being my section I am the one to blame...its only £50 but I really do not want to pay for someone elses c**k up. So its been taken out of everyones tips which means work is going to be hell from now on, and there is now no chance of me being promoted which is what I am working towards. The assistant manager was the manager on duty today so she has said that if I dont find the money it comes from my pocket, other wise it comes from her pocket or the managers and in her words 'they have mortgages to pay I dont' she is only 18 and can be a right moody cow...so to avoid all the hastle of b**chyness on my way out tonight I offered to pay the £50 on my card and she said its to late I hae cashed up.
She could have voided the table and I know for a fact she could have found out who put the order through...I checked back through all the chefs tickets and the meals on that bill were not served at any point...
Any ideas?
Cheers
Holly

CCTV? Find out when the table ordered and then look at the CCTV to find out who the person was who took the order.......Just an idea!

If she has paid up then it sounds like a guilty conscience tbh.
I take it the other staff get their tips back then?
If so forget about it.

Firstly, if you are working a contract it would have to stipulate that they are allowed to dock your pay for mistakes like this. It's highly unlikely that they could get away with having that in the contract so i'd not worry, she's just trying to scare you. If it's the tips that would be docked(cash tips) then you can't do anything about it as it's not in writing, they can do whatever they want with tips.
In your position i would have looked into it further, it's possible and probable that someone let their mates come in for a free meal & drinks...
A lot of people are very stupid when they do things like this and don't even cover up their tracks.
If this is the case you'll get yourself a promotion with some detective work ;)

Guilty conscience. Who would pay £50 if they hadn't made the f*** up?
She doesn't want it traced as it will catch her out and get her in shit with the manager.
Chill Winston.
Uncle Tony and Dic. Ins. Alex are on the case.

Say what?
I meant she has a guilty conscience, hence why she paid.
