Hi guys and gals.. just joined your forum and am in need of some help. My daughter has a 95 saxo 1.1i.... She's always been bothered by a misfire but rcently it's getting worse especially just after slowing down at a junction and then pulling away again ( second or third gear). Just as she pulls away the engine momentarily cuts out but then picks up again. She describes itas chugging LOL. Changed the coil pack today but if anything it seems worse now, new plug leads also fitted. There's plenty of power in the engine, it seems in good nick, doesn't use any oil or water. Only thing that hasn't been replaced is the plugs which I will do tomorrow. But if any of you can suggest anything else to check, I'd be obliged.
Cheers.
Pete.

would definatly swap the plugs mate, these are a typical reason of a misfire low down in the rev range.

yeah check the plugs, make sure they have no black lines on them, thats where the spark jumps onto the plug itself, that woukld cause a misfire

Misfire as in a shotgun style bang from the exhaust?
Because what you've described sounds more like a throttle position sensor, afr or something like that. Is the engine management light on?

No banging or popping from exhaust at all and engine management light is not on. On light throttle at low revs, engine is hesitant and as you gradually press the pedal down it will momentarily cut out but immediatly pick up again but if you then floor the pedal it pulls like train. Gonna get new plugs today and will report back how things go. Thanks for the help so far guys.

So it's not a misfire, more a flat spot?
