Hi all,

My mate is in the process of setting up a new website. I said I would ask you for your opinions on it.

The site is www.usedcarguide.webs.com and is supposed to be some sort of resource offering buying tips and advice on scams. Any ideas or constructive critisism welcome and I will pass it on to him.

looks good i have only skimed though it... may i ask why he has set this up? just for something to do or is there some gain in it?

I think it is mainly as something to do but there is also gain in it. I think he gets a commision if anybody buys insurance or takes out a loan through the links on his site.

If he's serious about it he needs to buy a domain rather than use a free one.

The text at the top wasn't right, I'm guessing he's using frames to lay it out, but some of the text was cut off in the black banner bit. Other than that I think it looks ok. A bit too generic for my liking (as a designer myself, albeit not of websites), the body text could maybe be a tad smaller in my opinion.

Seems ok, but isn't enough to be a site i'd bookmark seems more or less a blog if that makes sense?

Cheers for the feedback I will pass it on. I agree with getting a domain name of his own, will give the site more credibility in my opinion. I will recommend he makes the text a bit smaller.

More info really, i mean what he has atm is really a few pages that a larger site would have in specific sections.

I mean, would be like a site that is just about non saxo website links almost if that makes sense?

I know what you mean.... i think. I have suggested that he should get an HPI check thing on there as I think that would be good.

- Heading Does not Displa Correctly

How is he advertising?

He is advertising in free directories and link exchanges at the moment but not getting many hits. He has submitted to search engine too but not seeing results yet.
