Cant figure it out, i wired up the 6x9's and it made this noise. I thought it'd be the naff speaker wire that came with it so got different wire - still making it.

Not sure what it could be, because i've had / wired 6x9's into other cars inc my old saxo and it didnt make this noise!

Any ideas?!

are they amped or run off the headunit?

Amped - it's some kind of interference thats being amplified but dont know what to do to get rid of it, maybe some kind of filter?

does it increase with engine speed? if so then its alternator whine

check your earthing points first :)

Yes it does! check my earth, and that might help?

yeah make sure its got a decent earth, file away round the earthing point and see what happens :)

i had this.had a perfect ground but i had a cheap amp and in cheap amps they use cheap internals and they pick up al sorts of sounds like engine whine ect.. if you go to maplins there is a thing called ground loop isolater they are £12 and they get rid of all the engine whine and unwanted noises.. basically you plugged your RCA's into this and then plugged the loop into the amp..

Yeah, checking the earth is always a good place to start.

Its not a cheap amp though thats the strange part! But i'll buy the loop isolator thing anyway just so i can have that as a backup

You can actually get the suppressor that fits directly to the alternator, from halfords. This will block out any interference that the alternator is causing.

Suppressor (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_18 9944_langId_-1_categoryId_165626)

this happened with my car and i bought countless suppressors and none of them worked. They didnt get rid of the noise completely there was always a faint whine. the best advice i got was to earth the RCA cables. I just soldered a bit of wire to the each ground on the cable (the outer shield) and connected it to the headunits earth. There is now no noise at all and it doesnt cost a penny! What HU have you got because this is common with pioneers.

i had this too..turn off your head unit and see if the whine is still there, and if it gets higher with acceleration then its your alternator whining. not really sure how to get rid of it because mine just stopped one day lol

rca noise supressors leave your stereo sounding crap tbh! the direct fitment to the alt is a much better idea!, check the engine earth strap as if its buggered then thats what the alt uses as an earth im sure as thats connected to the engine.
Also check the battery negative cable!
try a new earth point
also make sure the rca's and speaker cables are as far away from the power as possible
also poss try using tripple sheilded rca cables!
