Well

As some of you know i got caught speeding on Friday night in the Scoob

Was doing 96mph in a 60mph

Was dark but clear - Never passed any other cars

Got followed by the X5 and tugged.

Only evidence i got shown was the speed gun - not video/picture evidence all it said was 96mph @ 1006 yards.

Also the Police were not visible when i passed them

What do you think the verdict will be? - He said i was going to fast for them to issue me the standard 3 points and £60 fine

I have 3 points at the mo for driving on the phone.

My mate got caught last year on the same stretch doing 96mph and got 6 points and a 200 fine

sammy-spoiler
17th August 2009, 17:05
you'll be doing very well not to come away with a ban imo...

i got a 4mnth ban for doing 92 in a 60!!!

It all depends on what mood the judge happens to be in on the day i guess...

unlucky bud, know the feeling all too well:(

out of interest, what road where you on?

Over 30mph over any limit is stupid and I'm not one that sticks to every limit all time but never usually go over by more than 10mph not saying I'm right but it is easy to go a bit over.

fooked it!

did the copper not give you a fixed penalty notice & a fine there and then? or have you got take your docs down?

i got off doing double the speed limit a couple of months back, got let off though after a bollocking - think my nurse uniform and going to a&e could have done me a favour...

17th August 2009, 17:27
Police do not have to be visible. Hence why they have unmarked cars.

They can also do you for speeding at whatever range they like as long as there equipment is rated to it. Though generally they stay well within the limits of the equipment to make for easy prosecution.

3 points is letting you off lightly you could just pay the fine and learn from your mistake. Next time you will probably not be so lucky.

PS, 96mph really is taking the piss, think your self lucky!

josh1989
17th August 2009, 17:32
30 over limit is a ban iirc

it's always double the speed limit is a ban unless the limit is 60/70 then 100mph = ban :)

Tontsy
17th August 2009, 17:36
if its 3 or 6 points, i asuume you have had your license over 2 years, you got 12 to play with... so your not going to lose it like that.

id say a fine and 6 points... if you do get banned, i dont think you would have to re-sit the test and that afterwards.

if the roads were clear, and you wernt driving like a wanker, they wont be as mean!

there is driving above the limit...then there is driving like a cunt.

smiith
17th August 2009, 17:53
Say you need your car to get to work and what not, id try and get the gun checked for calibration, dont they need to be done every so often?

You cant say enough of how the road was clear, was a safe road, and just say you just lost track of your speed for a few moments.

try not to be cocky with the majistrates though, they turn into cunts.

If that fails, drag them into the octagon of pain.

the reason ur insurance is high is because u are 18 years old and the insurance company dont trust u to even drive a 1.1 without crashing
if u have nowt sensible to say than dont say owt

Gag and rope, then she cant run or scream ;)

To be fair though 96mph really isnt alot, i cruise at about 95 on the motorway, and 90 on the moor road every time i leave town lol, not the crime of the century is it

dj_russell
17th August 2009, 19:24
i reaken you may get shafted on this mate as much as i hate to say it you could possibly get off with a month or 2 ban and 8 points meaning your just able to keep your licence,

depends on the judge though when i went to court i lost but i stood in for myself with no soliciter as i thought i was a lone soldier and didnt need help thinking theres way too many things they got wrong but i lost, best bet may possibly be to go and have a consultation with a soliciter you can get 30 mins to an hour free to see if theres any point.

dj_russell
17th August 2009, 19:29
96mph even feels like 30mph to me it really is not that quick the car even responds and stops in no time at that as most cars do, but what youve got to look at over 100mph in a 70mph is a licence revoker so i dont know how 96mph in a 60 will be seen, im guessing very excessive especially when they find out what car you was in.

smiith

your probably better than "poirot" over there though, he can only dream of being behind the wheel of your car and his story wouldnt telly up with what he says now if he had the chance.

everyone makes mistakes and if you didnt occassionally break a few rules owning the scoob would be pointless same with any of the fast cars, i dont know one owner that doesnt exceed a few limits once in a while to blow off some cob webbs. what you was doing i wouldnt of even discribed as dangerous no cars about nice open road etc the impreza will handle well and still outstop most cars from 96mph than an old astra doing about 40-50mph

Pieface
17th August 2009, 20:00
Lol at all the comments coming from 2 people who have 2 licenses, and I wouldn't drive an Impreza, I'd be sensible and get an Evo. But I could always dream of losing my license like both of you have done. I think the fact that two of you are on your second license shows how good at driving you are eh.

Oh and I'm 18? And? I'm younger so that makes me what? If you aren't a sensible driver, then don't drive.

We have someone saying 96mph in a 60 isn't fast.
We have someone with 11 points who is giving advice etc on what to say in order to get off.
We have another basically saying speed limits are there to be broken if you have a powerful car.

We also have a quite disgusting attack on someone who was basically just giving their view.

Connor mate if your pal got done doing the same speed on the same stretch then you will more than likely end up with the same, just watch they dont try and raise it to a dangerous/reckless driving charge as well, if they try that then you have to make sure you emphasise the road was clear and was not dangerous.

I got done doing 92 in a 70 which was the limit for a fixed penalty notice, so I got 3 points and 60 quid fine, if I had been doing 93 then they couldnt have fined me and id have had to go to court, and I got told about the dangerous driving charge possibility even though the police told me that what I was doing wasnt dangerous.

Good luck with it anyway and hope it is just points and a couple of hundred fine.

There's speeding and there's driving dangerously.

IMO a speeding conviction, tha majority of the time, has been issued to make money.

The difference is some people don't know when to slow down, these people drive like nobs everywhere, and get the "you twat" comment. (bar you, obviously, as you get that comment sat in front of a computer)

I know a bloke who doesn't speed (anywhere) and got 11 points for dangerous driving. SO STFU you NOOB :homme:

I admit i made a mistake but in all honesty my car is capable of 150mph all day long well until it runs out of fuel or explodeds - I have done these speeds on air strips :-) so if i was purposely trying to break landspeed records i could of done better than 96mph.........

Doing 96mph was a mistake and it wont be happening again until im on a track.

Fact of the matter is, (and this is all entirely fact, law basically) I believe Connor was in total control of the car and knew exactly what he was doing and that he was not driving dangerously. Pieface you have to remember that getting to 96 in his car takes a damn site less road than yours and he wasn't building up that sort of speed for miles and miles. its very true, speeding doesnt make a bad driver my dad has had his licence since 1980 ok in his younger days and when i was a kid i remember him being a bit mad when he had his 405 mi16 and vitesse turbo, and at one point he had 9 points on his licence in 1998. never crashed, fantastic driver one of the best i know thats never been on track apart from go karts has had a clean licene now for got to be 8 years and we sit at over 100mph most days to and from work.

my uncle sits at 40 everywhere 30/40/50/60 and 70 zones just constant 40mph absolutly wank driver crashed a few times this year hes all over the road hes got 6 points on his licence because he doesnt take notice of the road.

whos the bigger danger a teacher that travels to and from college every day and has always been involved in crashing cars because they cant drive but sits at everywhere well under the limit or somone who does nearly a 1000 miles a week and speeds and never crashed a car?

I'm not pro-speeding at all thanks. I'm saying if you are in a line of cars passing a school you will not be doing 20 fucking miles an hour. Most times not even 30. These are busy built up areas where the norm is to go 30-40 mph, which during the day I will not (at all) speed in.

A NSL road at half 11 at night is a totally different matter. If speeding was so fucking dangerous you would be done for 1mph over, but on a motorway the cops don't bother for anything under 85..? so get off your high horse and realise speed doesn't kill. Idiots behind the wheel kill.

pieface u need to go and experience a powerful car and realize its nothing like a 1.1 saxo where 96mph is fucking light-speed!
also get of your highhorse because your naive as hell and live in a box tbh.

law states anything over 30mph the limit is an instant ban(71 in 40, 101 in 70 etc etc), but this can be fiddled if the judge got laid the night before

i dont stick to limits and Ive never crashed but Ive seen women and old people cause crashes at 30mph so whos more dangerous?

As stated before, how does the car anyone's in justify breaking the law? Let's just let all Ferrari's go 150mph as they're all faster than other cars so it will be fine.

ahhhhhh what an amusing thread!! had to ask this but pieface have you ever driven a faster car than your 1.1?
i dont think anyones mentioned this but do you not realise how much better the brakes are on better cars? i.e a subaru?
a subaru at 96 mph would probably stop faster than your paxo doing 60, im not an expert and i dont think you are one either, so shh now.

also mate, my friends sister's a police officer and apparently you can contest being caught by a speed gun if there are no warning signs on the road you are on? i don't have alot of details but may be something to look into!!

hope it all works out ok in the end!!

lol at this thread, ive done tripple the speed limit before, do i win?!

i think you may be ok and avoid a ban, a mate of mine was caught doing double the speed limit and with a letter from his work saying he needed to be able to drive they gave him six points rather than a ban. They will take into consideration road conditions etc. if your lucky they may even forget to prosecute you! happens more than you'd think lol

Lol, I couldn't resist.

Pieface jumped on the sax-p bandwagon of slating anyone who admits to speeding and sadly this time lost.

Throw in the towel bud, you've lost.

Whole heartedly agree, it pisses me off when people do that, it's not a confession forum, or a forum to catch and condemn law breakers.

if you want to admit to breaking highway code rules on a forum.. Who cares, they can never prove it was you, This woman made a girl kill herself on myspace, and got off. You think it's worse than that?

It does piss me off people jump on the bandwagon, disruptive behaviour is being countered by section 59's etc, people will get what's coming to them, Connor will get 6 points, his insurance will go up, Or he gets banned, has to take his test again, more money, even higher insurance.

Everybody pays, And no one listens to naysayers on saxperience. This isn't a personal attack on you pieface, frankly, it's usually the majority that jump on the speeder.

No one cares what you admit to on a forum, you had the balls to admit what you've done, admit it was wrong, (although 'keeping it to track days?" really? ;D.), and asked for advice.

Bravo.

=].

And this site certainly isn't pro speeding.

This is a Saxo forum.

EVERYBODY fucking speeds.

My mate got caught last year on the same stretch doing 96mph and got 6 points and a 200 fine

you know you were speeding, just take the points and bollocking and learn to be more covert with your speeding.

You will quite probably get 6 points or a short 2 month ban. Take legal advice but plead guilty unless you're definately going to get off. When pleading guilty say sorry, I was in control , the car is well maintained etc and insurance etc is all up to date and perfectly legal.

Not read the rest of the comments as I can't really bebothered with the opinion of an uneducated 18 year old. 96mph in a 60 limit isn't much of a challenge to get to, though it's not entirely sensible, it's hardly child rape.

Maturity isn't based on age at all. And as I said I got the 1.1 for nothing, and also having a bigger car doesn't make you a better driver. I think if you're on your second license then you can't class yourself as a better driver than anyone. You may have had more experience but you obviously haven't learnt at all from it.

if your on a second licence all offences were from speeding or on the phone etc... and you lost your licence for that without causing crashes or harming anyone thats not a bad driver in my eyes.

im still on my 1st licence i passed my test 1st time and theory but it dont make me a better driver for it

a bad drivers somone who crashes speeding or not the speeding parts just added for a placebo effect so people with small minds can beileve it in their minds that speeding kills and were all criminals.

So you're telling me someone who speeds and crashes is going to have the same outcome as someone who sticks to the speed limit? A Placebo effect is when nothing happens at all, but you think it does. Speeding and crashing is going to have a worse outcome that Crashing on the speed limit.

thats true but the majority that speed nothing bad happens its the shit drivers that crash all the while, but a driver who stares at his speedo full time and not looking whats going on around them can also cause a fatality they are the ones hitting children and rearending cars.

you could argue that if you could wipe speed out you might be able to save some of the crashes that happen leaving just the ones that dont speed its probably even a 50/50 thing where there as much to blame as each other, so what do you target the speeders that kill or shit drivers who dont speed but that dont concentrate either??? get rid of speed thats all good and well then youll see a rise in crashes of cars not speeding that will make up what youve already tried to stop so then your back to square one, id be more inclined to answer my mobile while driving if im bored shitless and other activities that involvbe not concentrating and all the other drivers would do the same, so like i say before you know it the lives you saved are now back to square one with just as many deaths id say even more deaths would be caused due to everyone then not paying attention to whats going on.

when im speeding my musics turned down im concentrating completly on the road and other users etc, when im sat at the speedlimit especially 30s im bored im getting tired not really taking notice other than to watch out for shit drivers and to not cause and accident in my car but id say my concentration is down to 30-40% where as speeding the whole 100% is focused on not crashing, other cars causing sudden movements things jumpoing out infront of the car, if the car has a blowout ,police etc...

As you say, you may concentrate a lot more. But some people may not concentrate, especially those who do it on a day to day business (A.K.A Businessman in Audi's or BMW's) and they will just lose their concentration and cause a larger accident than if they are on speed.

92 in a 60? I'll be honest, I did Alot more than that once, whilst being followed by an unmarked Mazda 6, I got pulled but he let me off with just a warning. (early hours of morning, no other cars on the m.way, plus totally clean licence etc)

Just back from my epic journey, seen some young lad (passed his test a fortnight ago too!) in a fiesta nail it into a central reservation because he took a roundabout too fast. wasn't pretty to watch, and the trip to stoke and back took significantly more time because i didn't venture into speeds i normally do.

speed awareness courses don't work, but seeing someone bin their car does lots. i aint a preacher against speed, heck im bad enough, but i'll admit sometimes its really, really not good to do. especially when you're inexperienced.

Then don't use our roads? Read the rest of my post and go on tracks, or private land.

our roads? i wasnt aware that an 18 year old with 1.1 has provided much towards the road in this country or how it should be run, you said what you think but your still posting so this makes me think you just like argueing on the internet. shut up now..

Il end this by saying if you think speeding is wrong your retarded. What defines speed and whats safe? its all just risk assessment for morons who cant do it themselves. Remember all the emergency services all break the speed limit. Its all to do with being realistic in the road conditions and consideration for other road users. The speed limit is there to stop chavs who dont give a fuck about anyone else killing everyone and bureaucratic idiots who need rules for everything so they can sleep at night.

Everyone else can just use their brains and drive without even thinking about the speed limit because safety isnt how fast your going its just about common fucking sence. The Germans (of all nations) can do it apperantly we can't be trusted but I'm not that surprised after reading this thread. :wall:

Just one word for this whole post.

/facepalm

Emergency services speed to get to places quicker, that doesn't mean you have to speed as well. They get a lot more training than I bet most road users do, so they are well more qualified to do it than someone like you. The speed limit is there to not have stupid huge crashes (Like the recent 200 Car pile up on the Autobahn, so they can be trusted?)

Nobody is justifying excessive speeding on public roads. But wake up to the real world mate, not everyone is going to drive 30 on a 30 road all the time, simple.

Its all well and good trying to be a saint about it, but can you honstly say you have never strayed above the limit. You don't even need to answer that, because you have. We all have.

He's already admitted it and contradicted himself constantly throughout the thread.

Thing he isn't understanding is that he is young and has no experience of the road, so he doesn't realise that speed limits are there because certain people are too dull to know when to take their time. So in turn he isn't understanding that they can be broken perfectly safely.

I admitted I've gone over the speed limit, yet I haven't been over the speed limit by over half the limit. There's a difference between going like 10% over the limit, and 50% over the limit.

And if speed limit's are there just as a guideline, I'm guessing

a) You didn't fully follow the speed limit on your driving test (Or second driving test for some) as in your eye's its fully justifiable (And in the testers eyes.
b) You haven't got any points on your car from speeding, because as it's morely just a guideline the officer will say "Oh you were driving safely! who cares about points, go have some fun!"

This is where your naievity shows so much. 10% over the limt past a school at 3:45 pm is stupidly dangerous. Where as 50% over the limit through an industrial estate at 3:45 am isn't.

So seriously grow up, he wasn't driving dangerously at all. You are a silly little twat who I have no doubt does more than 30 past schools during the day because you have no expereience and are incapable of determining what is safe or not. This is why on the internet you rely on the government telling you what is safe.

And who, or where did it say I was going past a school at all? I'll tell you one thing, if the speed limit was raised, or scrapped in this country, do you think there will be less crashes? Do you think that if everyone could do 100 on bumpy, blind Country lanes (Where you will get the idiots who would do something that stupid) there will be less crashes?

No, because idiots (such like yourself) require rules and limits otherwise they won't know how fast to go.

What I'm saying is at half 11 at night on an empty road you need to understand that being caught speeding doesn't make you satan, and also, that you have been a jumped up twat by not realissng that and trying to slate him for speeding.

And yes I'm childish, (mainy because you're biting :p) and if you let yourself get so wound up over the internet you're obviously the childish one. But I know the dierence between someone driving like a twat and someone driving fast. :afro:

Thing is with speeding, is it's not always the driver who causes accidents though. Road conditions (For example what happens if there is a largish pothole in the road that wasn't there before? You hit that at 96 then you've most likely, 9 times out of 10 lost control), or other people who might be o the roads. If he was on an industrial estate there will most likely be junctions, and going at 96 they may not see you at first, or be ignorant and just come out which could cause a large crash.

And can you please stop trying to comment on my driving when you don't even know me.

So you're slowly realising you are talking shit then.

By admitting that speeding isn't dangerous at times. So I win the argument.

I didn't say he was in an industrial estate that was just an example. There's plenty of roads around here that 100+ in the dead of night is perfectly safe. You are just too stubborn/childish/dull to realise that.

And the way you are banging on about braking the speed limit I imagine you as being a dangerous driver, these twats that stick to 40 in a 60 and then continue on at 40 in a 30 past a school. You are young/inexperienced/stupid/childish/easy to wind up and probably fat with no friends. But that's just me abusing you :homme:

You deserve everything you get. Yeh, you bought a fast car and want to use it, but 96 in a 60? Just think, if someone else was driving at 96 in a 60 and mowed your mum, dad, sister or any relative, friend down and killed them... what would you be thinking now?
