You may wish to read about what the UK Governments Department for Transport has to say on the subject http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps

Or possibly what UK insurers have to say about it http://hid.moonfruit.com/#/insurance/4529652056

The short of it is there illegal and invalidate your insurance.

If they are cheap ebay HID's they will probably put marks on the lense, kind of heat marks, if they are a good hit, with good UV ratings, they wont harm them.

the think that concerns me is that h.i.d are rated in kelvins which is a temperature and 6000 kelvin (6000k hid kit) is quite fecking hot tbh (i cant remember the actual conversion)
i had ultra angels and they were fully plastic apart from one of the lenses
i would avoid putting hot bulbs in just to play safe tbh

ive had them in for 3 months no probs at all 8000k kit want them for main beam now

and bollocks to the legal side everything is always down to that these days, im sure if it came to 99% of cars on hear are illegal in some way
