completely new to this so dont get crazy!

how do i attach the neons to a power source without connecting it to the ariel as ive heard that it messes with the signal, ive been told it can connect to the fuse box.

and i dont want to damage my car in anyway IE drilling moving things etc.. etc...

thnx

I wouldn't wire it directly into the fusebox.

If you remove the centre console, you can wire it in to the back of your cigarette lighter, you have to make sure you wire it in to the right one though as there are two positive feeds to the cigarette lighter, one for the lighter itself and one for the light, you need to wire it into the 12v supply to the lighter. If you wait a couple of days i can tell you which one it is as i have to take my centre console off.

If you wire it in this way they will only work when your sidelights or headlights are on, but to be honest you only want neons on when it is dark. So that shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck

I'm just planning doing this too, but I dont want the car looking like a discotheque when its moving, so instead im wiring the neons up to the door switches i.e. they light up when you open the door... turn off when you close them. just a thought for yours maybe.

Here is a pic of mine with the footwell neons fitted.

I have changed quite a lot of the interior since then.
I got bored and thought id even fit a neon in my amp window in my boot.

Boot neon (http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c44/FurioAL/DSCN4494.jpg)

I was originally going to run the neons off the headunit power supply but i didn't fancy risking blowing up a £400 headunit for the sake of some £4 neons ;) and i only ever have them on when i have my main lights on anyway.

The neon in my amp window is attatched to the bottom of my false floor, it is just a single tube the same as a footwell neon. I have a switch in the corner of my boot and it is wired directly off the amp's power supply. The amp is angled so it shines directly off it.

I have attatched the neon tube to the false floor with those springy plumbing o rings, that usually clip pipes to walls.

a right cool smileys/happy.gifthinking of making a false floor for my amp and sub (subs soon) smileys/happy.gif recon i could use the current base for the boot and then just stick some sides on and cut out some holes for amp and sub/subs? would need to be cut a little due to the seats that lean backwards obv

cheers

I took the standard boot carpet out and drew around it onto an MDF board and then jigsawed it out. I then kept trimming it where needed until it just squeezed in. I then carpeted it in acoustic carpet (about £7 on ebay) then i cut out the whole for the amp. My false floor is effectively an MDF board with planks screwed to the base to raise it up. It means you can still have a practical usable boot space but it looks pretty funky aswell. If you haven't bought your ice yet i can strongly recommend www.motor-world.com they sell a JBL 1000W sub, a JBL 400W amp and Sub box for about £120 including postage. They sound pretty good too!
