I know this has been asked lots of time but its not exactly whats happening on mine. My gauge never reads empty, when its low the needle goes to just above the mark where the red light should come on and stays there, the light never comes on, and when I've filled it up, it reads under a full tank. Now I'm sure its the sender unit and had a look at it under the rear seat and it has one big plug on the top with 5 pins (4 only used). Its on a R reg VTR so would the sender unit be seperate from the actual pump or is it all together like later models. On mine, it doesnt look like you can change it. Now my brother has just wrote his R reg sx 1.4 off, was hit my a police van! And was wondering if they used the same pump in the 1.4 as the 1.6 as I'm gonna rape his car of bits to go on mine before it goes to the scrap yard! :D
