Once you can branch out of the infantry... do it! You can get some of the best training in alot of fields that you can use if you leave!!!
There's not really a huge desire for people who can shoot stuff.... on the other hand though there are for other trades!
Good luck :)

Bad choice in what area togo into. Just cannon fodder for the goverment to do with what they want. Why not join and pick up a trade. Then when you finaly come out you have got something about you.

2nd that, i was in the infantry years ago, its hard fecking work and not worth the pay, yeah join the army but try to get a trade, your'll have a great laff in the army, so you mite as well get taught something that you going to be able to make a good living for yourself when you leave

in regards to the steriotypical reply you get, or sense when you say or tell someone "im in the army"
i personally respect the lads doing it but many many dont due to just seeing the army as something anyone with 2 arms n 2 legs over 16 can do with a general fitness level.. where as the navy n raf are more trade based figher second the army as obviously more hands on then trade second

mate, you have such a long wait for infrantry, up to 7 months wait just for phase 1 training, thats from passing at ASDC so your looking at a yeah and half just to get in basic,
should have gone RE or REME, when you come out all you can be is security.
what regiment you going for ? man up and go para
and dont listen to that muppet about more respect in the RAF, Navy and RAF are pussys, even the royal marines compared to a para lol

advice: dont drop the soap
and you want to be in the snipers, the the expression on the cunts face before you shoot him rather than shooting at specs in the distance
my mates a tankie and loves it but another mate is infantry and fuckin hates it but each to there own
parra's FTW !!!

Show's how much you know bud.
Year and a half to get to Basic?
If you applied know you'd get everything done in time to get into the January intake, without a doubt.
I appiled when i was 16 for Harrogate in september, got everything done within 3 months and went in for the Jan intake.
Chump ;)
