Right im 18, and passed back in march and have been sharing my mums Ford KA (bad times) so now i want my own car and have been looking about at insurance and basically the quotes are all the same! To insure a VTR on my own name it's going to cost me around £1400, and to insure a 1.4 Furio its going to cost me £1200, and i even tried a 1.2 polo just to see if i should get a smaller engine than a 1.4 and that was £1200 as well!
Basically Im going to be paying around £1000 or more to get a car thats a similar speed or a bit faster than the KA, what should i do???
Cheers

A ka isn't a bad car at all... but i'm not sure what you're asking.
Those quotes are typical of a young person.

Yeah, my bad that wasn't very clear!, basically Im asking if i should just buy a small engine car, 1.1 or 1.2 something like that, put up with a slower car untill i can grab one year no claims and get a car i want or should i just bite the bullet and pay the extra £500 or whatever it would be to get the car i actually want?

Definitely do that buddy. I started off in a 1.1, 4 years later i've got a 2.0 and the insurance is £600. Don't regret not starting with a quicker car one bit!!

i got a 1.1 . . . i had a 1.8 Gti turbo for my first car, and that went tits up lol.
tbh, i think its silly that everyone only wants to have fast / quick / powerful car for their first thing, or with little experience...its trouble waiting to happen.
1.1 saxo ftw!

That top one, seems too good to be true? £600 excess! surely thats worth it though? because even if i did crash it would still work out cheaper than quinn?

My insurance is £750 1 NCB downfall... excess is £750
But no matter what it's still good but i've never heard of the 1st insurer on yours...
Have you added like your mum / dad / nan etc as named drivers? Lowers the price for some reason!

I was with Quotelinedirect on my moped years ago. They had good customer service but they didn't deal with any claims for me.

I just don't understand why its so cheap for the quicksilver and furio out of all the cars iv done! iv quoted cheaper smaller engine cars and they are more expensive so i have NO idea, not that im complaining! i just hope its the same price by the time i get the money up together for the car
