how to secure bucket seat harnesses

hi do you secure bucket seat harnesses so that you can stil have passangers in the back. you can link them up to a rail in the boot as standard but i want to secure them on the floor directely behind the seat. How do you do this? do you have to get a specialist to fit them? or can you do them yourself?

you can buy a three point harness that has another buckle at the back so can easily be uncliped to alow you to carry pasangers, and use your original belts have a look on deamon tweeks website for the exact make/modle

I dunno how safe it would be having the harness positioned that way. However, to do it you would have to drill through the floor and then reinforce it with a plate either side. Dunno if it would pass an MOT though.

If you have taken out your rear seats' Use your old seatbelt bolts and bolt them where your old seatbelts used to bolt to.

Or, You can have them on your C and D pillars where are the points where when you open your boot, you can see them on the left and right as soon as you open your boot, your have to unbolt your rear seatbelts and bolt the rear of the harness onto it

butthis would make it hard for rear passangers to get in mate. iv seen them go drectely below the front seat so that access to the back is still possible

If your this unsure mate i would suggest taking it to a specialised garage to do.
Seat belts are quite important

if the angle of the harness is over 45degrees from were it leaves the seat it can be unsafe, ideally you would want it at 0 to 45 degrees as it keeps the stress on the harnesses down.

dont run harnesses if you're still keeping passengers in the back

the only way im aware of you can run passengers in the back with harnesses is to run the harness though the gap in the rear seat. for example between where the back of the seat and the base meet. then bolt them too the same bolt as the rear seatbelt clips.

However make sure the bolts have enought thread still in the hole!!! Do not use them if there not properly tightened.

hi mate i have harnesses in myne but iv striped myne out. iv bolted myne to the boot floor tho and still passes mot . but i no wat u mean. but theres only 1 prob wi that it wont pass mot and if u run ur harness strait to the floor behind driver and passenger seat if u have a crash youll brake both of your shoulders and maybe even your neck. so just think about it a little it took me 3 or 4 days of playin about with them to get them in the rite spot

So if someone goes into the back of you and the C (there's only A, B and C ;)) pillars crumple forwards, the harness slackens and you go forwards too?
Should be mounted to where the buckles go (underneath the rear bench), preferably with a spreader plate (although most people don't tend to).

on your seat frame at the side of the handbrake u will have a buckle for 1 and then just unbolt ur front lower seatbelt rail and bolt other side to that and then the rear strap fasen as far back as you can or as high up as u can just play about with them youll get it in the end . but get rid of them rear seats

Yeah the c is next to the d, typo

c pillar is safe enough to use and your shoulders dont
get crushed if get hit head on.

Its just a case of where are you least likely to get rammed

so how come you can see cars with harnesses that are bolted to the floor? dont get it so no way in hell with the rear seats in i can have harnesses

not really able to keep the seats useable with harnesses
i used to run mine on the c pillar but its not idea
ive now got my harness in but still kept seatbelt so if i need the seat i tuuck the harness under the seat and use the normal belt

i know this must sound stupid however does the harnesses have to be facing downwards? would it be possible to get a bar secured to the inside roof and secure the harnesses to them? or is that totally impossible?

NEVER do this. In an impact you WILL compress your spine.

The only way to do it while keeping usable rear seats is to use the type with the second buckle behind the seat (OMP, Sabelt and Sparco do them) which allows you to use the rears WITHOUT the harnesses. You need to use your standard saxo belt if you've got rear passengers.

Right hand Eyebolt replaces original belt fixing bolt.

Left hand eye bolt i've mounted to the seat side plate. The side frame needs additional bolts to the subframe for safety's sake if this is done.

If you're using bolt in rather than clip-in, then you can bolt the left hand mount to the subframe.

thanks mate thats great help however the first pic goes right through the rear seat? ohh.... i get it when no one is in the rear you can usr the harness but when their is, then you use you original seat belt?
