I have recently purchased a MK 2 Saxo VTS, it has been lowered 60mm front and back, because its so low you feel every bump, pot-hole e.t.c on a crap Rd, on a dual or motor-way its fine. When going at very slow speed over rumble strips or speed humps the car will wobble from side to side as it goes over them, and there is a slight knocking noise that comes from the front of the car, this also happens when driving the car off from a stand-still, the noise then stops ( I have checked the wheels and they don't seem to have any play in them e.t.c ). Would any 1 know if this sounds like the start of a problem, or am I getting these noises purely because the car is so low and thats the way it is. Would it be-worth getting new springs / suspension and have it lowered by 25 / 35 mm instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

could possibly be the top mounts or the anti roll bar likes.. they sort of things tend to wear when the cars been lowered by quite a bit :y:

With the car being that low, will there be any wire-looms etc that may be to close to the ground, and need moving out of the way ?

Was it lowered on standard dampers?
If it has then you really should look at getting them changed as standard ones will die very quickly if lowering 60mm so if its been done a while then that would explain alot of it
lots and lots of other factors to take into account- if parts are knackered it wont really matter if you raise it or not as you'll still have noises
drop links (if VT based model or furio/westie) never last long
top mount bearings usually could do with replacing

I think it has adjustable rear spax dampers, and standard 1's on the front, and I'm guessing that there spax springs as well. TBH I might just replace the the whole lot. I would prefer to lower it about 30mm, would you be able to recommend a 1/2 decent make that doesn't cost a fortune ( I would be looking to replace dampers and springs ). Also what other suspension parts are worth replacing when doing this ?
Cheers for the help so far ;-)

I have done some further investigating into my suspension, Apparently the rear suspension are spax ajustable nitrogen shocks  and the front dampers are the original 1's on 60mm lowered springs. I am planning to drop the car 30mm approx all-round instead of 60mm. I was just wondering the best way to do it ? I plan to adjust rear to 30mm, and then buy some new springs for the front along with new top mounts, but still use the same dampers ( unless there knackerd ). Once this is done hope-fully all the noises and knocking sounds will go away. I thought this would be the best way to see if any damaged has been done to other parts of the suspension. Any advice on this would be great. ;)

Just an update, I've had my VTS hired up by 30mm or so, from a 60mm drop all-round by APB motorsport, also had the top-mounts replaced, they could not see any other damage e.t.c to anything else :A:, the car now drive's really well and 99% of the noises / knocking sounds have gone, there is a very slight knocking sound when moving from a stand still but I'm putting this down to age of the car and that's the way it is. There's no vibrations e.t.c from the steering wheel e.t.c and the car handles really well. It can now go over speed humps and pot-holes without any trouble. Now for the exhaust system and induction kit.
