This is just to moan about the price to drive my car now, its impossible!

Car tax takes the piss already, and even worse, anyone taken a butchers at the proposals for next year? :n:

Even worse is petrol, when I passed my test in Feb it was 92p a litre where I live, and last night I paid 105.9p a litre.. It felt like I was being raped on a petrol forecourt :wall:

isnt petrol duty going up 2p soon?

im paying 115.9p atm :(

Its stupid, it really is, especially with the amount young people have to pay for insurance which just adds to the burden.

And of course if you have a saxo its £££££ on repairs every year

The Government are fuckers - wasnt it like down to 89p not so long back and they creep the effing price back up

TomBob
23rd August 2009, 14:05
The government putting more duty on? No wonder everyone hates labour.

For me to get 6 months road tax on my 1.1 saxo costs me £68.75.

For my mum to get 12 months road tax, (she can't get 6) costs her £35 on her 58 plate fiat 500 1.2.

And this is all due to how 'green' a car is, and takes no notice of miles per galon. It can do 11 miles to the gallon but if it emmits less than 100g of CO2 then you don't have to pay anything.

They should just stop car tax, like they have in Gibraltar.

Its because in this country when the goverment goes "ok were puttin up petrol prices" everyone gets angry but does nothing, at the worst they write an angry letter, oh no an angry letter, i bet they laugh and throw it in the bin.

What the fuck?

Is that really how much duty there is?

Dom
23rd August 2009, 18:29
That was a rough calculation, give or take 2-3p but yes that's how much goes to the government.. It only costs 30p a litre to drill, pump, refine and deliver to the petrol stations, that's including the petrol companies profits.. the other 75p goes into the governments pockets to cover the overspending in other areas of there fucked up budget and to pay for the recession.. fucked.

i got a 2.5 v6 mondeo st200 as well and it does crap mpg. so much so that im selling it now cos its killing me on petrol costs. if im lucky i can get 25mpg but its generally far lower. put my foot down and it does 4mpg. my vts seems amazing on fuel in comparison lol

savo

LOL one of the main reasons i sold my cammed vts, tax on it was a joke same as a focus st .. mental and the fact i knew it was going to go bang the way it was being treated lol..

but if your moaning about petrol in general maybe you shouldnt be driving? just plop in a tenner and take it easier everywhere, a vtr is bloody cheap on fuel i had a vtr when i was 17 years old lol but i understand how easy it is to have a lead foot lol

insurance is a joke aswell for young drivers esp at 17/18 just passing their tests GRRRRRRRRRR even my st which aint the fastest thing iv driven is still near 1grand full comp im 19, redicilous imo

True actually. Look at their drinking and smoking laws, there pretty much aren't any, vending machines in the streets that sell beer etc.

But they don't have a binge drinking problem, they're bought up differently, respect alcohol, etc, the British are just stupid when it comes to drink, and can't handle it.

Although, the homeless situation in France is bad. My friend came back recently and said this woman with no arms or legs was selling miniature Eiffel towers of her back.

Scary shit, makes me think of zombies tbh.

Fucking balls in my opinion, there should be regulators which cap it at 80p or something (I don't know exactly how much, but it should be capped).

2/3's of the final value is tax, So it's entirely the goverment (I know if OPEC raises prices etc, but it fluctuates anyway).
