Right im toying with buying a cat D 2004 BMW 316TI SE COMPACT BLACK

or buying one that is on ebay that has No Compression on cylinders 3 and 4

Possible valve damage...the cat d bmw needs a new bonet, wing and bumper... and only has 56000 on the clock.

But the 2001 bmw has 130 on the clock. anyone have any ideas on how much it would cost to sort out the damge on the one without compression?

Or should i just but the 2004 one?

Help please

Dom

Hmm, if you have to buy a damaged BMW to be able to own one, will you be able to afford to run it?

I'd get neither tbh, I'd rather own a non-damaged BMW if I was to own one.

But out of the 2 I'd possibly get the Cat D one but it is a toss up.

Got for it mate, Id stick to getting one with just cosmetic damage because then you can can get a realistic price of how much its going to cost to get repaired. Ive had 3 car all of them write offs, one was a c70 2.4, one was a v70 2.5 turbo and my current car at the mo which is a 106 1.4, had no problems with the volvos whatsoever, infact, the c70 got written off again! I paid 1700 for it and got 4050 back! Great if you ask me. Had nothing but problems with the 106 though because the loom got cut in the crash and its messed up something to do the ecu. Be prepared to keep them for a while though because you'l have trouble shifting them due to it being a write off. Best of luck!

I could afford to run it, I get my millage back on the company. So i dont have to pay for my petrol! :p

I cant afford to get a brand new one!

Insurance is cheaper then my gti! strange!

Insurance is cheaper, probably because its safer, and not so many people have crashed in them, less likely to get stolen too!

Sorry mate I dont, I bought and just towed it back myself. I'm sure if you looked on ebay someone is probably offering that sort of service. How far away is it? How about you get one of your mates to tow it back with you?

Insurance is cheaper than your GTi because its about 100 times shitter than a GTi. A VTR can outdo a 316

A GTi is group 13, a 316 will be around 11.

316 - small engine for the weight of the car.

Thats why the insurance is cheap.

TBh i'm not really after the speed. I fly Planes and Helicopters so cant really compare that with the speed of a car haha! just want a comfy, nice drive car!
