no 6x9, and 5x7... a decent set of comps, amped up. and how bassy?
sound systems arnt as easy ast just putting a few speakers and subs in place...
how much do you have to spend?
100? 1000? . . . i could easily whack up a new list of audio equipment i want for my car, and it would set me back around 1500 + ... and id be happy to pay that.
would you?
search..

you wont get shit hot with 2-300 quid.
you could get, a budget set of comps and amp...
or a budget sub and amp for that...
or invest into a set of 6.5" RE xxx comps... around the 270 mark, but will sound lush... and have a nice lil kick there till you save that up again for a sub!

components are 2 speakers one in each door then you have a crossover and a tweeter in each door as well this run on a seperate amp then a sub in the rear also hooked up to another amp seperate to the component amp :y: then it will smash all your mates with there chav halfrauds audio and 6x9

if you want pure SQ, then the hertz is the better choice of comps
ideal set up is 1 set of comps up front (1 speaker system per door), and a sub in the rear
adding more comps just increases cost by a few £hundred, nothing else

depends how high in price your willing to go
but then youd have to spend a lot on an amp too to match
and make sure you have a decent HU to run it all
nope i have no comps for sale.

shall i get 17cm or 13 cm comps?

TBH i wouldnt go for comps if you said you just want a really loud system for 2-300 quid. slag off 6x9s all you want, i have a pair taking 175rms+ each and they are bloody loud for how much they were, they dont drop as low as a sub but for sure they can shake all 3 mirrors and make people think theres a sub in the back somewhere. It would take a fair bit of money to get a good set of comps that would match the volume. i get the impression you want something loud and dont have masses of money.. you may be disappointed when you spend 150 quid+ on something that sounds nice and clear but cant give you much sheer volume. unless you get a set of good 17cm comps that will go very loud but these go into the hundreds not even counting the amp/door pods. if you want under 300 quid and buying brand new then by getting a good component set up you are compromising your subwoofer. its all about whats more important to you.
and by the way when people say 6x9s are shit what they really mean is theyre shit for what my preference is. in the same way someone in an spl competition would tell you 8" drivers are shit or an audiphile telling you 15" ported subs are no good

to be honest im not after it being stupidly loud but loud with good qaulity but i have a 800w alpine sub, alpine door speakers, jvc 6x9's at the moment an d the sound is shit. and i dont think by using sound deadening will impro ve the qaulity much, however i am going to fit some

well then in that case id recommend either SPL SD-5.2 components or maybe jbl components with a JBL amp.
Then youll have plenty left over for a sub, which sub you get depends a lot on what kind of music you listen to and whether your after something punchy or deep

i like all sorts from hardcore to easy listening, im thinking the jbl sub in the link posted earlier in this thread im willing to spend a bit more on comps maybe stretch to £150 (then run it from the map in the sub package) will 17 cm comps fit my car?
Saxo-SX
27th August 2009, 19:46
They will if you buy/make speaker pods.
13cm are straight fit.

27th August 2009, 19:58
ill go for the 13's then

these seem good and a good price or shall i stick with the hertz?
Ashleyp

lol at inphase
hertz are the best SQ speakers under 100
joshygoode
27th August 2009, 22:02
kk mate ill stick with the hertz then mate, will they go nice and loud aswell though?
Ashleyp
28th August 2009, 20:28
hertz arent built to "go loud"
although:
1. a speaker is only as loud as the amp powering it
2. youd be very suprised with 2 x 50wrms :P

Josh
the hertz
like i said
you can spend £10k on speakers, but theyre still getting powerd by the same amp
and 55wrms is a LOT more than you think, im rattling my mirrors with my comps running only 17wrms
