View Full Version : Knocking and thudding sound

May have already been a thread on this but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas..
Everytime I put my foot down quickly on the gas there's a small jolt with a loud thud and occasional squeeking sound coming from beneath the car. It sounds and feels as though it could be the exhaust hitting the underside of the car, but I still don't know why this would happen. It's got slowly worse with the car squeeking everytime I change gear.

It's not great I'm not going to lie. It only happens if you push quickly or stamp on the accelerator

I have basically had the same problem just happen to me today. When you jolt the accelerator, i get a knocking noise. was thinking engine mounts but not so sure.

Yeah I was wondering whether it could be mounts too but it really does sound like its coming from underneath the driver's side not towards the engine.

sounds like an engine mount? or is your backbox right close to your bumper... i'd check that your center pipe and backbox isn't knocking on anything first, then have a look at the engine mounts.

i have the same problem, iv replaced all the wishbone bushes, driveshafts and its still there its now looking to be engine mounts or top strut mounts. it sounds like its the front drivers leg sqeeking but its not! its defo not the exhaust. i now have engine mounts and will try and fit them over the week end so il let you no of the out come guys. my vtr has been like it since christmas so you can guess im totally P***ED off!

Sounds deep and clunky enough to be an engine mount to me.

watch out its not the engine mounts,, my mates peugeot had that exact noise on the way back from global gathering he knew it was a problem but ignored it.. he was like it will be ok... 10 minutes later his engine fell out lol...
