i've had my 1.1 looked at briefly by a mechanic and he's told me my third tappet is out and need's adjusting and he said its really not doing the engine any good plus the noise is really irritating. is anyone near to kent that could possibly have a look for me and let me know how much it would cost to get fixed or know how to do it

Hi mate, to be honest you can do this yourself with basic tools and a bit of common sense. Maybe get a haynes and a basic tool kit if you don't already have one. You will get great job satisfaction from doing it as well. Would leave aside a few hours at least if you are a bit new to spannering.

Haynes manual has a good guide. I'd leave the engine overnight before attempting though - needs to be done with a cold engine.

There are guides on here too I think, try searching anyway matey. But a Haines manual is always a winner.
