Theres a bit of play coming from the near side front wheel but only as you rock it from top and bottom. Had a garage look at it and was told it wasn't wheel bearing or ball joint but the steering rack.
Anyone else had this problem and whats the fix for it?

I would of said it was the wheel bearing tbh, but without having a proper look at it could say for certain. Try a different garage and see what they say, always good to get a second opinion, just do tell them that one place has said its the steering rack.

rubbish the steering rack only links to the hub assembly via the track rod ends and is used to turn the hub assembly left or right so its deffo not that! if theres play when its in the air then it might sound obvious but have you checked the wheel bolts are tightend right up and also check the strut to hub bolts are tight aswell if not either of these two then its deffo the hub bearings they will need changing!

Wheel bolts are tightened up, strut bolts are tight, so I guess its down to wheel bearing then.. I'm sure I've had them replaced around a year ago!

make sure it is the wheel thats moving and not the hub assembly when you are rocking it back and forth because it could be worn bushes on the wishbone etc, have another little play with it and see wether its deffintely the wheel moving if so its deffo the wheel bearings....

Ok, cheers mate. I'll get under the car and get someone to rock it and see if any of the suspension parts are moving :y:
