In my bedroom I currently have this lg tv.. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1014719974.125181039 0@@@@&BV_EngineID=cceiadeiejlhdedcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=11&sm=0&tm=1&sku=742593&category_oid=-34810

and this blu-ray player... http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1014719974.125181039 0@@@@&BV_EngineID=cceiadeiejlhdedcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=11&sm=2&tm=5&sku=857585&category_oid=-33944

I am looking for a decent surround sound set-up to go with this...

Would it be best to stick with LG or go for a different manufacturer?

I would probably say my budget would be capped at £250....

Anybody give any suggestions or advice?

I regularly play div-x movies through an external hard drive connected to the blu-ray player so it would be handy if surround sound would still function with this??

Cheers People

have a look at the logitech surround sounds

most need an amp/av reciever to power them mate and can run you into a lot of money, ive spent about 500 on a pioneer 7.1 av/amp, kef 5.1 system and vifa for fronts to make it 7.1

also depends on the size of your room, with mine being small i went for kef egg speakers there great small speakers that push out 100 watts each

have a look at this setup: Its what Ive got, and for the buck, its bang on!

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-021-LG

Fits right in yoru budget, has got Optical input to get the most from your Blu-Rays (Aswell as direct 6ch input and co-ax input) is rated at 500W RMS and 1000 peak.

Bass is quite silly too cos it comes with a mahoosive sub

Rather than start a new thread I'll get some advise in here lol, I dont like the look of those logitech ones, they're like computer speakers and I dont want computer speakers in the living room lol!

Anyone recommend a decent system for the living room with some nice stands for the speakers, in black preferably too! Got Samsung Tv and Blu Ray player and a PS3 btw

In that case you will need a big budget mate

most speaker systems will need a seperate amp to power them unless you buy a dvd home cinema package but id rather have an amp reciever, its expandable as hell

Pred,

the logitech route seems quite a good idea... I could do with some tower speakers though to go at the side of the bed... (should look good)..

would they link to my blu-ray player?

it has optical connection
hdmi-digital connection
usb connection

and loads of other holes to stick stuff in...

most of the logitechs have a digital optical, digital coaxial input so im very sure it will link up

use the optical though its great you get no interference or anythng :y:
