Is there a way you can drain the battery off charge?

Went in about my clutch, on saturday the mechanic managed to some how empty my battery of charge and then the car woukldn't start.

a mate told me it might be a trick so I can't move the car thus getting the repairs done

He then said that I need a new clutch and that it might have shattered in the starter motor causing that to brake and quoted me £500 to repair it.

Obviously over priced I got Green Flag to tow it back to mine.

that's just odd,
how can the starter "shatter" in the time that it has been parked there as i presume you drove the car there??
draining the battery is easy enough, leaving lights or radio on would do the job,
especially if your running amps.

Yep leaving a door ajar or radio on can do it
on my 306 i had the starter lock out which can damage the fly wheel and preventd the engine from turning over

if you make sure it aint connected to anything then put a wire acrooss the terminals but it fucks the ternimals and you would propbally be able to see it or he could of just turn on all the electrical parts in your car with out statin the engine and left them on all day

It the oddes thing I've ever seen.

the car has been ok, starts everytime, I drove it there the guy looked at it managed to start and move it, and now the battery is flat, it's like something has taken all the power out in a matter of 2 mins

He did connect it to a plug in battery which he connected jump leads to my battery, wonder if he drained it using that

I have since managed to jump it with my work van, starts fine but the battery is still dead.

buy another battery. If you can jump the car then just leave it idle for a while or take it for a drive.

Or alternativley your alternator could be fubard have you checked to make sure the mechanic hasnt nicked it :p
