My clutch decided to die on me today so i spoke to a garage and they eestimated £260. What the hell??? is that right??
£130 on new brakes last month
£130 on 2 new tyres and allignment last month
I think im going to just get a bus pass :cry:

Main part will be labour I because it's not a quick job. I would get a few more quotes to compare if I where you. Usually when a clutch goes (ie wears down) it happens gradually and you would notice it slipping for months before it finaly won't pull the car. If your's has just stopped working it could just be the release bearing/cable or something silly. If you know someone with a bit of savvy get them to check it out before you go down the whole new clutch route mate.

i got mine done for £212 at my local garage

buy the clutch for like £30 off ebay and take it in to them , they will charge double if you let them get it


labours about 3 hours if i remember right

we charge £200 to supply and fit a DECENT clutch, beware there are some shoddy aftermarket ones, we fitted one to a land rover discovery last month that the customer supplied and it was a waste of time, crunchy gears,heavy pedal etc, fitted an AP clutch and all was good, at least i didn't supply the origanal item so got paid twice, still no fun as they are bloody heavy gearboxes on discos!
