My steering shakes still even though i'v had my tracking and balancing done?? Feels like a clunking noise when it shakes any idea what this could be? I only have 3 wheel nuts and on the left side strut its hold by 2 bolts insteed of 3 because when i was put the strutbrace on the tread broke off. Please someone tell me what could be wrong?

You sure one of your wheels isn't buckled slightly?

And I'd get that last strut top bolt in to be honest.

Wait, CLUNKING noise :/ Sound like something's very wrong.

Its when i turn at speed u can hear as if something is lose and is knocking into the underside of the car, checked eveything today and cant feel anything lose. Going to take it the garage as i cant be arsed with it any more.

if noise is only happening when you turn it could be your cv joint.
if you are going to a garage go to a decent 1 cuz the cheap ones will say everything is wrong just to make money.

Its all to do with the sterring, ever since i took the struts off to change the wheel bearings this has happened. I go over 60mph the steering shakes and if i turn at speed i get this knocking sorta noise coming from the wheels like something is lose.

they deffo the right wheel bearings? As don't the vts use different ones to vtr due to the taper or something like that?

first thing to check, and this is very important, Is the pinch bolt on the strut bottom tight. If not then make it so! While your there, with the steering lock on, give the shaft a good tug and wiggle, if it moves back and forth, then its the cv joint. Im guessing on the drivers side from what your describing. Id also be looking to see that the hub nut is tight as the bearings are pulled tight and in place by this. Failing that, lower ball joint is gone.

hmm if the wheel was buckled, when balancing would it not show up?? fort that was the whole point... take it back to the garage that did the balance and tracking and make them do it agen for free!

3 bolts wont affect it, my old saxo had 3 the whole time i had it n it ran fine. good idea to fix it tho for your safety lol.

as for the knocking, if you can raise the front end safely get it on full lock then spin the wheel you sould spot the problem...

regardless 3 bolts holding on a wheel id start off by fitting the 4th. then fixing the top mount before looking at the other fault.
