Right,
I Know ill get slated, or the usual saxo's are better BUT i would like honest opinions here!
So my 1.1 is for sale atm, and i was looking at a vts and then i had a thought and suddenly fancy a complete change!
SO my question is whats the comparison between a vts and a fiesta zetec s (1.6) Has anyone driven both and offer me a opinion! Ive been told that the fiesta isnt as fast but i would like to know other opinions!
Many Thanks
Rich

from experience zetec s is not a fast car, assuming you mean the mk6.

Zetec S has about same performance as VTR But is a lot safer, and cheaper insurance

vts will rape a zetec s. look better as well imo

why is it people instantly talk aobut the speed ofa car ROFL!
erm what about
comfort?
the ride quality?
costs on services?
and other far MORE important things then just 0-60 times. if that was the case then go by a sports car. SIMPLE!

the quality of the zetec is no matter than a saxo,
they still break,
they rust badly,
they are slower than a vtr,
they can out handle a vtr on twisty roads,
cheaper insurance,
safer,
better looking.
i got rid of mine for a vtr and pretty happy i did!

i am having the same problem as this.
i wanted a VTR for ages, but then had a sudden change and wanted a zetec s mk6. or if i could afford it a ST
i think they look lush, and i learnt and passed in one.
i been told that a VTS would cream a zetec s, and a ST (not so sure about the ST)
but as some person said up in the thread, fastness isnt everything.
take a look into ride comfort, and affordability/running costs
i have done a quote on a VTS and it is more expensive than on a ST.
when i save up the money, i am either going to get a zetec s, or the ST.

erm iv had VTS and currently own a ST but not for much longer due to chopping it in for a mk1 focus RS :y: but anyway heres a review of the 2cars a short one hopefully! lol my VTS was standard when i got it, and the ST was standard when i got it :y: so i know what im talking about..
standard performance.. VTS + ST pretty much even but off the line id say the VTS pips it but not alot difference and once up to 100 mph + id say the ST would comfortably / slowly pull away from the VTS but how often do you get up to these kind of speeds lol
tuned.. saxo vts now, alot arent standard what with lowered + exhausts, which is why i think many assume they cream ST's tuned vs standard ST isnt a fair comparison but done up they will easily dick on STs but if the same amount of work went into both the saxo and the ST, the ST would dick on the vts quite easily in terms of handling + speed.
but to own and drive one everyday the ST owns the VTS in every department..comfort, safety, no difference in mpg and if there is its minimal, non chavvy status, looks wise (opinon of course), handling, interior (referring to the 6 cd changer standard in the st and its sound system which is pretty good standard compared to a saxo.
id say if you were going for a cheap quick car a VTS is alright but if you can afford it a ST is better :y: but then you get the discussions of what you can get for the money for what you pay for a fiesta ST but face facts at 19years old your not likely to get insurance on a evo v111 lol.. and you dont want a car that is going to break down and cost you every now and then etc etc.. along with cheap insurance and running costs and nice looks the fiesta comes into its own in that department which is why theres alot of fiesta sts about :) just do some work to it, itl be a pretty impressive car bit like what iv done with mine :y:

cheers mate!
got pics of your ST?
is a ST expensive on servicing and parts?
hellovts
3rd September 2009, 17:07
yeah i do but not posting on internet pm me your msn addy mate
ST is cheaper than VTS to run in my opinon due to it not breaking down ;) servicing isnt expensive same as a saxo VTS id say, 1st service at ford is £130/40/50 not sure the 2nd is £180 the 3rd one is £230 and if anything else is needed itl cost extra but shouldnt be anything just brakes / tyres depending on how you drive it and id imagine theres plenty of 2nd hand parts floating about for the ST due to a few being written off.. :)
the tyres are a tad more than the saxo due to sizes but from my experience toyos on the vts and the toyos i will get on the st only £100 max difference maybe less and the brakes are the same price wise for discs / pads off ebay, infact the brakes on the ST are pretty good standard whereas the VTS is fucking shit and needs upgrading size wise etc hence alot upgrading brakes on here compared to the fiesta forum lol

M8 get an ST you will not regret it.
There a great car, and i still do miss my sax now and then, but then u put ur foot down n its so much torqier than the sax.
Iv spent quite alot on mine n its now @ 185bhp and quite comftable dicks all over my m8s ctr. But speed isnt everything.
The build qualities awsome and so is the comfort, mines droped 35mm on eibachs and its still really comfy.
You get a nice quick shift gearbox as standard, the handlings gr8. Its just all nice little touches that make it.
If your gunna get one make sure its the facelift one tho m8, they have so many more extras than the pre facelift ones
Hope this helps a little

Spent bout £2k for that including fitting, but i done it within the space of a month, so not all at once.
Fitted it all myself part from the cams and the map.

dnb ford stickers white with black ford intials all around wheels badges etc
plastics all colour coded into gloss black
angel headlights
catback exhaust system
induction
my reg on it which is quite illegal lol
makes it one hell of a stunning st and sounds pretty nice, im not sure what bhp but nowhere near yours spec lol and wont be going anywhere near its spec under my ownership, im getting a focus rs mk1 in a few months time :y:

think mine may also be chipped, it kept up with a 170 bhp st which had a 421 etc.. it kept up with it fine all the way to 120 then we both backed off (private land of course to the e-warriors)

lol. im looking at an evo next, will have to wait another year tho. bloody insurance lol
dont forget aswell they need to be serviced every 2k miles lol. and trust me an oil change, new plugs, belts, air filters.
dont come cheap on an evo lol.
make sure to buy one with PERFECT service history that shows its been regularly done. if you dont you maybe in for a shock if the engine goes tits up on you.
what model you thinking of getting? anything below a 5 is pointless tbh.

yeah if i had my own way id be driving a evo now but insurance like you said which is why im jumping to a RS not being funny but the VTS i had is more fun to drive than the ST but the ST is the better all rounder...
although my tyres on the ST are abit low lol

people think its 4k but its best every 2-3k on evo's 4k is usally on the scoobies mate :). so many people get this mixed up. sometimes can even cost you around 2-3k to get them serviced LOLS.
evo 6 your looking at around 7-8k for an ok one for tommi edition look around 10k+
8's are really well built super handling id go out on a limb and say they the best handlin series uptodate.
evo 6

personally evo 6 is my fav more boxy aggresive look.
was goin to get one just after crimbo but changed my mind and got the Bm instead :P

yeah i know bout the evos, a friend i worked with has a evo running nigh on 400bhp its a grey mq-fr something.. but abstoulte animal!!!!!! nothing beats it really off the line, skylines etc bye bye lol quite a expensiv motor tho paid 18k for it alone then mods ontop
but my plan is ST > RS which i owe nothing on so far... then RS sold and buy evo not on finance :) then when it comes to servicing etc i am not sure how il go about it but i still live at home etc so it should be just about manageable i think! :P
theres also the other thing that sticks in my mind, i refuse to pay more than 1k on insurance per year, 1.5k at the most but i refuse to pay silly £££ for it, so if i cant insure a evo for reasonable £££ itl have to wait.. i got my ST and insurance is 1k full comp and the rs in a few months as im 20 is £1500 full comp but the rs im swapping st for is my brothers one running 322bhp so it isnt all too bad but evo will have to wait for abit til insurance drops lol :)
