Gearbox

Hi aye all,

Right down to business, got myself a S1 106 XSi but has the GTi conversion, its been great untill know.

Problem:
When changing from 1st gear to second it grinds quite badly and i hate it, make me feel sick lol!

I have tried ajusting the clutch cable to the max and to the min, still didnt make any differace, i havent been hard on the car eg, (Thrashing it).

Every other gear is perfect, i thought it would be the thrush bearing since it happened to my saxo, but the only differace that the 106 doesnt make any sound to imply its the thrush bearing. And the clutch was replaced not so long ago.

Looked up on a couple of threads using the (SEARCH) Button lol, But wasnt much light on the subject.

Only thing i can think of is to change the oil in the gearbox. has any one experianced this problem?

Does it grind even when changing very low on the rpm? Sounds like the synchro. Not expensive, but you'll have to pay to have the box taken out, opened up, worked on and put back in. Big labour bills I'm afraid.

Right i have the chance to get a new gear box its a quicksliver one, What do you think that would be like?

I know everyone raving about the 106 xsi box, but there rare and expensive!

So whats the recommendations i looked at a few threads and some were saying about the diesel box.

Any info would be great! :)
