iTunes help!

For some reason I can't seem to make a ringtone from a tune purchased through iTunes. I just keep getting the error below. Can anyone shed any light?

Looks like it's trying to validate it's a purchased song but can't connect to the iTunes server.

Convert it to MP3 and then see if it allows you to do it.
