There's a roundabout near my house which has recently had traffic lights and more lanes and stuff added, I have done an uber photoshop to show you, the red lines represent where there are now traffic lights, the green line is where I was and the blue line is where I was going. And yes I do realise it looks like a 75% complete swastika.

Basically, as there are no lights where I was stopped I've always just assumed you treat that part as a normal roundabout... So I was stopped there along with three other cars as there was stuff coming from the right... Then the traffic from the right stopped but the lights directly in head of me were red, so I went and drove to those lights and stopped... But everyone else just stayed where they were shaking their heads and waited for the lights to go green, then felt the urge to give me evil looks as they went past...
Was I in the wrong or are they just noobs? Because as great as my driving instructor was we never came across a roundabout with a missing set of traffic lights :n:

You were right...
The lines infront of where you were stopped should just be give way lines... if they are solid white lines then you wait for the lights.
Also there should be lights by where you were originally stopped if that was the case as to why everyone else was waiting.

It is give way lines where I was stopped and there are no lights. I knew I was right but was a bit annoyed at all the plebs tutting through their windscreens at me lol...

Got a couple big roundabouts near me with traffic lights all over. Simular to your awesome photoshop, except the ones near me have traffic lights all the way around (not missing a set :S)
Seems like the roundabout is only 3/4 finished.. are there still any signs road works?
anyway, in your position i would of done the exact same.

dont forget the one near mighton bridge fella ;).
I know hull well myself since I live next to it lols.
all they done is made a filtration sorta roundabout all stop and start motoring so it does not conjest really bad near Toys 'R' Us and then upto clive sully.
I think I know the one you are on about to the left of you is staples, maplins and that golf shop? then there is no traffic lights but the lines are dotted. so you move forward to the traffic lights which then take you to mighton bridge or if turn left to the car park????

Not half. I think they were better before they put lights onto them. Sometimes you are not sure which set of lights you should be looking at

if the traffic lights are presented at a different white line to the one you were waiting at you are fine :)
put it this way, if you were turning left out of a junction and there were red traffic lights 10 metres up the road you were pulling out onto, would you wait for them to go green? of course you wouldn't as long as its clear you pull out :)

Yeah I went back earlier to check and I was right.
It is stupid though they just over complicate things... It wasn't even a bad roundabout before but now it's a joke. Some woman nearly went into the side of us the other day because she was looking at the wrong f*cking light!

you stop at the solid white line where the traffic light is.. as you know dotted lines means give way. doesnt matter about anything else, if nothings coming then you drive to the solid line. Unless you missed something lol as it seems strange other people didnt know.
but its ridiculous how theyre putting in traffic lights at roundabouts that dont even need them.. you need to get through 2/3 sets to get to where you want to go, if your going to jam pack a roundabout full of lights then you may as well just make it into a crossroads/intersection.
i have to go through this roundabout every day on way to work that theyve put traffic lights all over even though its not very busy and only 3 exits. every day youre waiting at the cuntish lights even though theres nothing coming.
