View Full Version : Car prices are stupid

Ive been trying to sell my VTR for a couple of months now and it seems like no one wants it.

£1200 for a ni-on mint 2001 VTR is dirt cheap, book price is £1700. I sold my old P reg VTR with a massive dent in the arche and a shagged gear box for £1000 5 years ago, i cant sell a mint VTR for £1200.

WHATS GOING ON?

Thoughts and feelings about this matter please!
(help me sell my car)

the thing with saxos is,there are thousands of them, also with the scrappage scheme it isnt exactly helping matters, perhaps try one of the car buying websites, they offered me 1100 for a 2001 vtr,if your that desperate :D

its not exactly a great time to sell with the recession etc

unlucky

shit haha
but its really nice.

i saw about 6 black VTRs before this one, and this one.
I know its done a fair few miles but its flawless, theres a stone chip on the bonnet, and a little mark on the door where someones opened their door into it and thats it.

the inside was really clean, you could tell it had been looked after. its had two women owners from new (then me)

52 means its 2002 mate!

If, as you say the car is dirt cheap then you must be using poor advertising or something as small cars are usually quite easy to sell.

Try getting good photo's done by a decent photographer. Also write a full description pointing out why the car is so good and back it up with photo's as well.

Apparently aswell the demand and price on second hand cars has gone up due to the scrapage scheme... because theres not enough of them i think its like £200 on average a 2nd hand cars values gone up this year...

So hang in there might get it gone soon

The arse has fallen out of the market, doesnt help trying to sell anything on here, most of the current people who want to buy stuff are dreamers with no £££ who want stuff for nothing.

Your spot on there buddy, i got loads of interest claiming not to be tyre kickers and then they all came back asked me to accept a nats bollock for it!

Id sooner keep it and have 3 cars, than give my VTR away, ive had VTR's since 2003, moving on is hard enough without this hassle! :wall::wall::wall:

Recession + credit crunchage + Xmas surprisingly close + epci buyers market means its easy to find bargains now where people need quick cash and cars just arent going as quick as they should for what they should

i have noticed that around xmas time with my £1500-£1700 will get me a pretty tidy vtr mk2

as said reccesion and scrappage scheme is the killer along with high insurance prices on the saxos for new drivers and even drivers with some ncb.

shows with one of the lads on here trying to sell his real nice black saxo on pistonheads and on here but had to drop the price £400 already. buyers market tbh once everything starts clearing up will be a sellers market again
