Hi everyone. Saxo noob here.
Not a noob to cars, Im 23 and have owned a nissan almera GTI, MK 2 1.8 Golf, 1.6 Vectra, 1.6 Astra, 1.2 Corsa, Mk 1 GTI (best car I have ever owned)
I haven't bought the Saxo yet as Im after peoples opinions.
My plans at the moment are quite small, Im after performance first, then Ill work on the bodywork and interior.
Plans so far:
Strip and rebuild a 1.6 VTS engine and drop it in
Strip engine bay or any rust and clean it
Air filter
White alloys
In time I will add a racing clutch and lightened flywheel (fidanza?)
Stainless Exhaust all the way from manifold
Lowered 60mm front, 40mm back
Add VTS/VTR body kit
Get to work on the interior
What do you guys think? Has anyone here attempted a 1 litre to 1.6 conversion yet VTS
Appreciate any help

there is quite alot of 1.1 to vts conversions kicking about, if you planning on doing all that and keeping it legal (e.g declaring all mods to insurence) then you will save a tone on buying a vts..... the cost of a vts and1.1 arnt much different to buy the car... and if your guna buy a 1.1 purelly for the purpose to make it drive and look like a vts then its abit pointless really

would have been so much easier for me to buy a vts rather than build mine, but its been great fun!

lol the bloke is doing it for a project!
if it were me id go for a furio or eastcoast(i think) as they have the arch kits on and look nocer, they only have a 1.4 engine so there ideal to mod.
personally i say good luck and hope it goes well. saxos are great to work with.

Doing a 1.1 to VTS conversion is a good idea as a project, but if your going to be spending the money and stripping and then rebuilding a VTS engine your better off looking for a bigger engine to convert to.
We are currently looking at either a VW V6 engine or the 106 GTI engine as a conversion, beef it up a bit.

Alot of vts engine converted cars have been done.
Would I buy a vtr/s or a 1.1 and convert it? vtr/s.
it has the disc beam as standard etc...You want to add a VT kit yet VTs come with it so thats less ball ache etc...
Can get a mk1 vtr for sod all, even a mk1 vts. Its easy pickings.
