You can run pretty much what ever you want, ttheres usually 3 diffrent types of sessions.. Novice,intermediate,pro.. You can overtake but i think its only on the left on track days? not to sure. You usually have to tape up your lights as well just incase they smash they dont want it sspreading on the circuit.

track days are not racing. If you head to them you get a full briefing on the days rules on track. In fact a lot will let other people into the briefings so you can visit to get an idea on what to expect.

You've got different types of trackday, main ones being...
Open Pit Lane - You turn up, sign on, get sound tested, briefing, 3 x sighting laps (in a line, following pace car), then track opens and you go out and come into pits as and when you want, with a break for dinner.
Sessioned - Same up to track opening, when you go out in sessions with people of similar experience. Only problem is that you only get certain amount of time on track.
