Ok guys I'm pretty clueless when it comes to cars so I'd really appreciate some pointers. VTR wont start first time, happens often in the mornings when cold but it has done it quite a bit after filling up at a petrol station as well.

Today it wouldn't start for ages, starter sounds like its turning over fine but the engine just doesn't start. Tried it a good few times, took keys in and out, left it a bit and it eventually came to life and then was fine for a drive, stopped, started fine and seems ok.

Done a load of searches which mainly turned up battery/earth problems and key-chip problems which I don't think it is.

Anything obvious I can check or test for?

Ohhh.. and since my mk2 died and I got a mk1, I cant find the bonnet catch? Was under the wheel on the mk2 and big and red, cant see one anywhere on the mk1.

bonnet catch , passenger side footwell under the dash then under the bonnet just to the right of the citroen badge

no dash lights when its failing to start ? clicking noises ?

Thanks for the reply, starting first time now.

I'll keep an eye on the dash and have a good listen tomorrow when its cold and early, probably be on here panicking about not being able to get to work :>
