Hi guys. MY bro has just bought a Lupo GTI and claims it is faster than a VTS. Just wondering what your take on this is? It did feel fast I gotta say. He said the 0-60 times are not a true reflection because the VTS hits it in 2nd gear wheras the GTi has to go into 3rd. He also claims the GTI holds its power in the higher gears a little more than the VTS.
Woud like to get the two cars in a drag race, would be interesting.
So if you were in a 1mile race and your life depended on it, which of the two motors would you climb in?

Saxo is quicker, but only just.
The Lupos are suprisingly quick. Probably due to the fact they aren't as heavy as you'd expect, they're only just heavier than a Saxo.
Saxo definately handles better though. Lupo's not bad at that though either.

Very very close 0-60 times, later lupos are 6 speed aswell. :panic::panic:

Pretty close match, would be down to driver skill on most roads. B roads the Spaxo would take it though. Girls would prefer the Lupo

Fucking lol. My car is a hell of a lot quicker than VTRs and a Lupo GTi pulls away from me. They weigh no more than 100kg more than a Saxo, and have got a good 20bhp up on a VTR, and a shit load more mid-range torque.

jeepers mary and joseph...everyday someone comes out with these questions and it is pointless cos its all down to the driver. also the only way you should b racing is on a track. (and do ya really wanna do a trackday in a lupo) - black flag puffter alert.
i easily overtook a ferrari f430 on the m6 comin back from trax, i was doin 75 and he was doin 70. :wall: and i had him all day long

I was gunna say...
This isn't a "I ragz me car init" post but my vts has reached 68mph in second, not that it's something I would do often but what i'm saying is, either my dials are slightly out or my engine has had something done to it before it was dropped in! Even if my dials were out though, it would still be at least 60 in second...

Seeing as the OP made this thread twice, i'll copy my post in the other thread to this one for everyones info :y:
Lupo:
0-60 = 8.0 secs
Power = 123 bhp
Torque = 112 lb-ft
Top Speed = 127 mph
Weight = 1015kg
VTS:
0-60 = 7.6 secs
Power = 120 bhp
Torque = 107 lb-ft
Top Speed = 127 mph
Weight = 935kg (thought vts was lighter tbh)
Anyway, there ya go..

Why post 3 times in a thread if you're not interested.........?
Not a great deal to choose between the two on paper although VW are notorious for understating 0-60mph times. It's likely that the Vts is slightly quicker in a straight line but you'd hardly notice a difference.
I nearly bought one of these but they're still a bit pricey so went for the Polo instead - same engine, heavier car and 5 speed box.

Very good friend's just sold his Lupo GTi, had a problem with the window not working, even after going through 3 different motors. Same with another friend's Polo. And i've heard of the same happening with someone's Leon.
All car's do have problems in one way or another.

Thats true. I've had my saxo for 4 years, not had too much trouble with it apart from the usual wear and tear type of things.
Other people I know, including family, have had all sorts of cars with much more major problems, although people always seem to be saying saxos are really unreliable, but I've never really found that.

So you think it's a shit thread because someone wants to compare the performance of two different cars?
Public forum mate, people can chat about whatever they want within reason.
You want to get over yourself saying what can't be posted, fucking grow up.

Depends on the driver. Both have similar power and paper figures, Lupo is better built and has more toys.
Apparantly it doesn't handle as well as the VTS, but still corners well.

Lupo makes upper class slags drop there knickers. Saxo for the lower class slags.

Lupos are really easy to spin out in as they have a really short wheel base and a fair bit of power
I think I would have a Lupo with a VTS engine in it :p
