Basically my bolt in the rear axel has snapped the one that holds the arb plate !

So i bought some easy outs drilled in then 'snap' the easy out snapped inside the hole so now i have half a bolt and half an easy out inside that hole.

What can i do to get it out??

Ive seen other people have drilled a second hole but what drills did you use to get through the tough still?? colbalt, titianium?? is it possible? SDS Drill?

as being unsure thought i would ask first i dont want posts like replace axel or replace arm as i have thought of this already im asking how to get around that and drill out the remainng bolt or re-drill a hole and tap some thread then bolt it up.

Another question is this extremely important to the rear axel of the suspension? would it pass an MOT without this bolt being in place therefore meaning the rear arb plate can move more? as my MOT is coming up soon

Thanks.....

if u mean the bolt going thru the pear shaped plate then just try drill it and re-tap it for a bigger bolt , same thing happend twice on ma m8's car he drilled it out and re-tapped the hole for a 17mm bolt , been fine sinse :y:

Basically the bolt has snapped and is stuck in there with the easy out also stuck in their the easy out is made from colbalt i think so its tough metal very hard to drill thru just need some ideas really !

Will get some pics later on for you...

remove the plate , weld a nut onto the bolt/easyout , unscrew :p

nah plates not in the way man i can move the plate out of the way anyways, and with welding as its made of colbolt i dont think it can be welded plus its quite far in so difficult to weld.

get lots of heat in there get a punch and try and hit it anti clockwise. otherwise the axel wil have to come off if its in an awkward position.

Not hard to remove the Axle

tried heat well only a heat gun and also turning but i needs to turn clockwise as the threads are backwards.

Had a few new ideas:

1) dremal away to gain max space then hopefully pull out the easy out and rest of the bolt.

2) Get a hole saw capable of cutting the metal around the easyout

Then if its out drill and re-tap thread !

No you need proper heat like Gas Bottles Heat / Blow Torch.

Then Chap Anti Clockwise

if you drill down a smaller hole than the thread it mighweaken it enought to releace the thread or just drill it out and re tap it
