can you fit them in? if not straight fit how hard to wedge them in :P going to get some HQ ones to replace my SQ front components as they have 10% bass... and with no sub to keep the bass up im opting for the amped 6x9s..
my current amp:

ummmm i wouldnt recommend mate it will be some hassle making sure you getting enough power to the car and then customising your door panel's but if you really want to i dont see why not should work nicley

They wont without making special pods for them as the metal door skin will get in the way of the magnet. only way i can see it working is if you have them in boxes and then cut a rectangular hole in the door car. slot the boxes in... they will stick out a bit so put them in a sensible place but whatever you do make sure they dont get in the way of your windows rolling down. i have never seen this done though so it may be impossible lol, should be able to work out if you can get it to work.

6x9s are a coaxial
coaxials will never be as good as a component

components arent meant to produce bass
although my rainbows have the mirrors shaking ;)
if you want bass, but want it light.. then thats a fail lol
although, get some fibregash door pods built to house a set of 16 / 17cm comps, and whack some SPL comps in there
the bigger cone = more bass & bid bass whilst combined with an amp still weighing under 6kg

so no 13mm speaker will cut it? most speakers in standard cars i.e vauxhalls have all round good loudness with bass isn't there any after markets that are like this then?

vauxhalls run bigger speakers ;)
SPL 5.2D offer good bass, so long as your running them with 100wrms @ 4ohm

What about an under seat sub?
theyre shite lol
far to shallow to have the power of a sub
a decent set of comps will be better

If you are after loads of bass then no there not that good but if you are just after a bit of top up bass then they are good. A set of comps wont give the bass that the under the seat subs can give.
Have you changed the set up of the amp sinse you took the sub out, if not set it to full and then have a play as you my still be getting just the hi end of the music through.

Well as a normall sub is too heavy it would have an effect

IMO... My mate has some old amped up Infinity 6x9s and TBH... They sound brilliant, far better than my sub and front comps together and i thought i was an audiophile.

will be a filter on your amp
LPF full HPF
for comps you should always run it on HPF when a sub is present, obv this isnt the case, so put it on full
