Hi,
we have a "liquid noise" coming from behind the dash board. Its not a slosh, but definately the sound of liquid moving.
I'm guessing this isn't normal, but is it a common thing with Saxos? Is there a fix?
Thanks,
Mike

Like running water yes?
You have air in your cooling system. Needs bleeding properly.
There are guides in the sticky sections of the forum.

Yeah - like running water. I'm pleased to hear its a known issue with a cheap fix :)
Mr_P -> fyi that guide looks like all the pictures are missing. (Or it might be the firms firewall). I'll look for another.

Also is warning of head gasket leaking (combustion gases in the cooling system). Keep an eye on coolent temps. You might be lucky and it just needs bleeding though hopefully.

Gulp!
Hopefully not. It has on 60k on the clock and looks nice and tidy.
I'll keep an eye on things, though.
Thanks,
Mike

Usually go at 60k or there about (mine was 58k to be exact). I had water rushing sound for about 1 week prior to the HG actually letting go big time. Cost about £100 in materials and afew days of work. I did other jobs and cleaned stuff up while I was there. Hope you will be okay though

Well Stevo, it looks like you were right.
I decided to bleed the coolong system at the weekend and found the radiator cap was "sludgy" and there was oil in the coolant; two symptoms of a failing head gasget.
The car is still running ok and is not driven hard, so its still being used whilst I make preparations to change the gasget.
I have a few questions, about it, but I think I'll start a new thread as the title of this one is somewhat inadequate now.

Mike

Good luck with fitting the new gasket, John.
Can you let us know how you get on and any tricky things to look out for?

MIke
