The westcoast and furio do NOT have discs on the rear. It is only the vtr/s that have the disc brake rear beam.

Still a good reason for an upgrade though :P Unless you are still packin a 1.1 :P

There are 4 different beams

1. 3 Stud Drums (1.0, 1.1)
2. 4 Stud Drums (1.0, 1.1, 1.4)
3. 4 Stud Disks (1.6 8V)
4. 4 Stud Disks w/abs(1.6 16V and very few VTR's)

Get a Disk beam without abs

easy to change :)

will obviously need new wheels.

If you want to keep drums, just replace the drum hubs with 4 stud ones

Don't worry about ABS. Should you find one with ABS on, just forget about it.
I have a 106gti axle with ABS on my vtr which does not have ABS.

If you're fitting an a axle with discs you'll need to change your brake pipes (after the flexi pipe on the axle) and the handbrake cables. Other than that it's a reasonably straight forward job (if you're mechanically minded...)

there are some how to guides try searching it and if i was gonna change the rear beam the only one id bother with is the gti its the same as the vtr/s but it has a thicker arb so in my mind if your going to the trouble of fitting a new beam then u might as well fit the best one you can just thought id let you know in case you didnt :y:

In that case forget everything about axles except what JimeVTR said - just swap the drums and leave yours alone. For the front swaping the entire strut will probably be easiest. I wouldn't have thought there would be any problems with brake pipes either.

Go to a scrap yard and ask for drums.... if they sell just the axel, ask for a bents one. just take the drums off.

you'll be looking at about 40quid.

The struts will be about 40quid a pair.

Then you have the alloys on top
