i payed 140 fitted with two year guarantee, this was at burton clutch centre near derby, think there between 40 and 60 pounds to buy if you or someone you know can fit it, scott

depends where you go mate, obviously main dealers are more expensive but you do get the genuine parts and warranty with them, but up to you mate. Have seen them done for 150 in other places

I wouldn't recommend Mr Clutch, tbh. Used them years ago, the clutch was supposed to be a quality replacement but was a shocking job.

Got mine done about a year ago by my local small garage, was about £130 all in.

mr clutch quoted me 184.99 for everything so i rnag my garage told them thaT quote and they said it all depends on how much they gate the clutch kit for so i said i had found one for 40.00 and he said thats good buy that and we can do the fitting for 120.00 :)

my garage had quoted me 250ish b4 i got the quote off mr clutch :)

clutch centres generally fit the cheapest, shoddiest remanufactured crap they can get away with. i fitted a cheapy clutch that a customer supplied once, got it off ebay, and it was rubbish!! now only fit quality clutches, i hate doing jobs twice, especially if the 2nd time has to be for nothing due to a customer complaint

tbqh id tell them to order a valeo tomorrow. They will order in the mornin and recive it same day, so dont worry. Send the Transmech back and tell them you prdered wrong one or somthing. Pay little pay twice with the transmech.

right well the thing is the garage tried to charge me 250.00 with parts and labour etc etc so i found the clutch kit and bought it then asked the garage how much just to fit it and they said 120.00 so thats a saving of 90 quid...

i wonder if the car parts place will swap it with me giving them the extra cas for a valeo one as they do sell them ive just looked on the website? (euro carparts)

Mochachino
21st September 2009, 22:20
hmmm 250 is very steep. Id really try n get a valeo though. From reading a few things about the transmechs it sounds like youll be paying labour twice to have it replaced within a few days!

I have transmech, had it fitted 5 months back, done 4,000 miles on it so far and no problems, not even showing signs of damage
