the 'splines method' is the wrong way to lower the torsion bar. this is the correct way: http://www.suzukituning.com/PSA/Suspension/Lowering.htm?sub_category_id=25&cat_category_id=2
check out the stickies in engine section theres a couple of guides in there to do engine conversion :y:

hi
1st off many people will tell you dont lower by splines !!
ment to naker the axle
i just lowered mines by 40mm
was really easy measured the distance from somewhere on the arch or under it to somwhere on the axle took the torsion out then damper off raised the axle up however much you want then slip the torsion bar back in making sure both sides are the same think you have to start with the drivers side aswell :y:

i lowered my rear torsion bars two weekends ago, followed the guide posted above. everything was pritty straight forward, only problem was all the nuts and bolts were seized so bought some 3in1 penitrating spray and job done :)

The little torx are rubbish if you ask me, i always seem to slip and strip the splines :O i bought some good quailty torxs sockets to make sure it didnt happen this time.

i was talking to a guy the other day who races saxo vtr's in stock hatch and he said a standard saxo is slight higher at the rear and understeered alot, so he experimented and found that lowering the rear slightly improved turn in greatly ;)

Hmmmmm
I'd be inclined to say a rear heavy car would understeer the front end would go light under load

true, but a saxo is very light at the rear anyway so maybe its just distributing the weight a bit more evenly so a slightly better feel, the engines by far the heaviest thing on a saxo and its at the front if lower than the rear aswell its definatly going to want to go staight rather than turn lol he might have been talking rubbish, i just thought id say :)

i sit my track car 5mm higher at the back due to balance as said above^^ I like it that way.
for a road car 10-15mm higher at the back is what i would suggest.
the gent that likes rear lower than the front is fine! not every driver is the same and we dont all use the same suspension.

The nose down stance is supposed to be to do with weight transfer AFAIK, if you're just lowering it for looks (as per most people), and don't intend on tracking it, keep the back slightly higher than the front, otherwise it just looks like it's dragging it's arse.

I'm lowering my vts another 30mm on the back. I had it done 40mm by someone on here (can't remember your name sorry lol) and I watch him do it and now I'm going to give it a bash, I've done the front myself.
But on the drivers side, there's the little torx t40 you have to undo, but it's tucked right up out the way.
How have people undone this???
It looks a right c**t
Cheers
