had a brief look into getting a different box to improve acceleration
which is the best to use
and would i get any gains from a 1.4 , 1.1 . 1.3 box ect
o also , why are rallye gearboxes so expensive

rallye gearboxes are expensive as there desireable
they are lower final drive ratio but still have the bigger differential in them
1.1 boxes are shorter and have a smaller diff in
1.4 box is longer
1.3 would be an s1 rallye (the shortest fd)
then theres the 1.4 xsi box (second shortest)
then s2 rallye (bit longer)
then vts
and the vtr 1.4 and 1.5d are massively long

hmm
what would you recommend then mate apart from the 1.3?

well it depends
i really wouldnt put anything short on a vtr as its a low revving car
i would look for a vts or a 1.6 rallye or 1.6 xsi box tbh man

or buy a 1.1 box for 20 quid. Then who cares about the smaller diff, as you only paid 20 quid.
used my 1.1 box on my vtr for 8k miles, not heard one crunch or grind in that time.
Definatley notice an improvement in acceleration. I'll be definatley buying another when this goes!
unless your a burn out freek, it'll be fine =]
Ratio wise; 3.5k rpm@70mph in 5th
4k rpm@80mph in 5th
5k rpm@100mph in 5th
6250rpm@118mph in 5th

ahh so it revs higher at the top end so only gets to 118
sounds worth it for acceleration gains

definatly is worth it if your box goes.
just seems to 'blip' through the gears faster, only drops down 1k rpm when you change.
So change at 5k, straight into 4k rpm, where powerband starts.
5-4-5-4-5 ftw lol ;).
