*Posting this across a few PSA forums so apologies if you've already seen it*
OKay today we attempted to change my master cylinder.
Here's some history of the car beforehand -
New rear cylinders & bleed Jan 2009
New front Calipers & bleed July 2009
So as you'd expect it all came apart nicely. Followed the sax-p guide and emptied the reservoir by pumping the fuild through the rear brakes and out the car. Lovely. Popped off the reservoir and swapped the M/C (Standard 3 stud 19mm) to a 'VTS' one.
Firstly, should the m/c be marked to show its size? Neither of mine have any obvious numbers printed on (compared to an AX 19mm one which had '19mm' stamped on the right-hand (passenger) side.)
Secondly, after connecting up all the brake lines we filled the reservoir and tried to bleed through the o/s rear brake. Nothing. After heavy pumping the fluid level would not drop, only go down when the pedal was depressed then move back up when the pedal was released.
We tried depressing the pedal then putting a finger over the bleed screw and then releasing, but this made no difference.
Then we tried the front and although some fluid did come out the front o/s, it was not a stream as you'd expect.
Can anyone diagnose? Brakes were working very healthily beforehand.
Cheers
Mike
