before i start, i know that there are a lot of 6x9 haters out there, but imo there awesome!

iv got uprated front speakers, 6x9's and a 1000w sub with amp

would i gain much from amping up my 6x9 and the front speakers? there loud without an amp but could it be better with amp's? would the quality be improved?

the 6x9's are 300w and the front ones are 150w (i think)

any info would be cool,

cheers!

awesome? you have never heard a proper set up before then. Also dont quote peak values they mean nothing.

Yes amping them would make them louder and sound better

if good is enough for you then fine but you can buy far better for the money.

like what?

i removed my 6x9's to see what it sounds like and it was no where near as good!

and yes i have heard a proper set up which involved 2 sets of 6x9s and it was awesome smileys/smiley14.gif

so whats the perfect set up in your eyes scott?

well iv got 13cm components up front and a set of tweeters, and a fairly good sub which does the job its needed to do smileys/smiley17.gif

is that all, no rear speakers is the best iyo?

no sound system in the world has contained 6x9's and been considered good. Buy some good quality front components, power them properly, sound proof the doors and seal the midbass within the doors. Do this properly and you will never use 6x9's again.

Also try this sometime. unplug the 6x9's, then play some loud music. Watch how much the cones on the 6x9's move even when they're not connected. This is how much air from the sub is hitting the cone on the 6x9's. They're constantly battling with the sub to pay music.

6x9's are the devil.... and thats from someone who's just set up an audio shop (to open in april discount for sax-p members coming soon)

6x9's create noise... which people tend to assume is good... if you want good sound quality get yourself a good set of front components and amp them...

what you have to think about is why you want a big install?

if its because you want the sound quality in the car to be good so when you're driving down the road you can listen to clear music then bin the 6x9's.... if you want to drive down the road with people pointing and laughing shouting "check the chav" then by all means keep the 6x9's, but i can personally guarrantee that binning them and getting decent front's will be the best move you'll ever make

i'l give it a go then, cant argue as you guys know what your doing!

im not after a super loud system, just quality sounds more than anything else!

so i will put some sounds deadening in and think about putting some bigger speakers up front!

if i was to do this, could you recomend me some good speakers? dont want to buy some that are rubbish! what kinda money you looking at to get a decent pair? and also recomend me an amp whilst your at it, if you would be so kind as to do so smileys/smiley17.gif

cheers lads

it really would depend on your budget mate, you could get yourself a cheap set of half decent components (pioneer, JBL etc) for around a ton, or you could spend hundreds with likes of DLS, Focal etc, same with the amp... give us an approximate budget to work with

okay well, like you said, about 100 for speakers and maybe the same for an amp, but im willing to put a bit more in if its worth it smileys/smiley4.gif
